Editorial Review for Red's Savoy Pizza – by Annamarie Cumpston
In Short
As you walk in and your eyes adjust to the low lighting, you're greeted by a mural of a lusty Italian woman holding a pizza against the watery backdrop of Venice. Seat yourself at a burgundy pleather booth or Formica table. The most popular pie is the Savoy Special: sliver-cut onions, zesty pepperoni and sausage, green olives, mushrooms and sweet green pepper. The menu also includes roasted chicken, pasta, salads, sandwiches and American fare.

Insider Tips
Know Before You GoYour pizza will be cut in little squares--use silverware; the toppings and cheese tend to slide off the crust.

Went to Savoy last weekend after not having been there in several years. They still haven't cleaned the bathrooms- OMG! It's worse than a porta pottie! We get our table, sit for 10 minutes and a hurried waitress greets us and takes a drink order. Another 10 minutes goes by and she brings drinks. Forgot the kids, drinks, back in 10 minutes.... Took our order. After 30 minutes, 1 pizza comes, 2 meatball dips come. She forgot the other pizza and pasta sampler as well as the appetizers. She goes over and enters them in on the machine. 10 minutes she says. My son and wife ate their meatball dips: I don't know how- the "lil loaf" garlic bread was so salty it was inedible. I mean deer were lining up to lick this bread. Everyone's done eating. The other pizza, pasta sampler and the kids appetizers come. Daughter loved the Mozz sticks, son loved the french fries. The pasta sampler was so overcooked it was mush. Pizzas were just OK. I was also bummed they took the broasted chicken, fish and burgers off the menu. It's now just pizza and pasta. The one thing that I love here is their salad dressings. They are homemade and excellent. I am a chef and cut restaurants more slack because I'm in the business. I would never spend another nickel in Savoy. Their problems could be solved somewhat by adding two more waitresses per shift. They are just too busy to handle that many tables. They could also rearrange their seating. It's downright cramped. Their bathrooms need to be destroyed and redone. If they could figure out a way to keep customers from waiting for tables out of the aisles, that would be great. Every spare place has people waiting for either a pizza or a table. Nothing like having 4 asses in you face while your eating. Their customers must not ask for much, because the place is packed always. Go figure?
Pros: great salad dressings
Cons: service, crowds and filthy bathrooms
