What People Are Saying About Red's Savoy Pizza

In Short – As you walk in and your eyes adjust to the low lighting, you're greeted by a mural of a lusty Italian woman holding a pizza against the watery backdrop of Venice. Seat yourself at a burgundy pleather booth or Formica table. The most popular pie is the Savoy Special: sliver-cut onions, zesty pepperoni and sausage, green olives, mushrooms and sweet green pepper. The menu also includes roasted chicken, pasta, salads, sandwiches and American fare.
Editor's Tips
- Know Before You Go:
- Your pizza will be cut in little squares--use silverware; the toppings and cheese tend to slide off the crust.
Horrible service - Only go here if you enjoy waiting.

My friends and I decided to try this restaurant for lunch on a Sunday while shopping in St. Paul. We were quickly seated so that we could wait . . . for 10 minutes before a waitress finally gave us menus. She took our order and we waited.
4 other tables were seated, placed their order, and received food.
We waited.
Finally we had to ask why we didn't have our soda or appetizers yet? The waitress just turned and walked away.
We got the pitcher of Coke we ordered 30 minutes later! HOORAY!
Why didn't we get our appetizer? She accused us of lying about getting our appetizer already, turned and walked away.
10 minutes later, while we contemplated throwing down $5 for the Coke and walking out, our pizza arrived and she brought us our appetizers.
The food was okay, nothing worth the rude service and 40 minutes of waiting for drinks.
Then we waited.
Another waitress, noticing we were sitting there for 15 minutes with empty plates asked if we had our bill, God bless her.
Then we waited.
I finally went up to the front desk to pay and the rude woman up there told us we have to pay at our table, I refused to go back and demanded she run our bill.
I have never had such horrid service from a restaurant before.
WE WILL NEVER GO TO THIS PIZZERIA AGAIN!
What happened to Red's????

A celebration lunch was the order of the day and how better to celebrate than with Savoy's Pizzas? The five pizzas ($70.00+) were picked up at the 7th Street location and ready to serve. To everyone's dismay they changed the crust!!! How can this happen? The beloved cracker thin crisp crust was replaced with doughy thick soft crust! The crusts tasted like prepackaged grocery store crusts. I called and asked why they change the crusts? I was told they had changed but went back to the hand rolled crust (yea right). What a disappointment and what a loss of an eastside icon. I guess I need to find somewhere else to spend my celebration pizza dollars.

HEY IF You don't like his jokes, then eat somewhere else!
That's why he doesn't go to your place!
Some of the best pizza and chicken in town. The Pizza delivered in suburbs too!
Eat in, don't get it delivered

This place has great food - pizza, wings, everything you expect from a pizzaria - but it's not your average Papa Johns. Fresh sauce, toppings, and dough means that the flavor isn't what you get from a chain store or a frozen pizza, the flavor has lots of tomato and spice to it. It doesn't hold up to delivery well and I would guess they don't have very many drivers because it takes awhile, but if you're in the mood for great pizza it's worth sitting in the restaurant to enjoy
Why is the owner a racist?
by ksid4now at Citysearch
Hi there, I'm not sure if other people have written in about this but at the Savoy on West 7th - a place my husband and I have loved to go - their owner (against the wishes of patrons and staff) has a racist "joke" hanging near the entrance that reads:
I'm sick and tired about people asking me about my dog
I realize he mauled:
1. 3 Muslims sitting on a rug next to my back wall.
2. 6 illegals wearing Obama t-shirts.
3. 4 Democrats wearing Pelosi t-shirts.
4. 2 Rappers
5. 5 phone operators who asked me to "press #1" for English.
6. 9 teenagers with their pants hanging down past the butt cracks.
7. 8 customer service desk people speaking broken English.
8. 10 flag burners.
9. A Pakistani taxi driver.
For the last time...
THE DOG IS NOT FOR SALE!
This is very sad for the city of st paul, that one of its most loved restaurants, a place i (used to) send visitors to for a real authentic st paul experience - has this kind of hate/racist writing, hanging in their lobby!
