The worst gym in St Paul. This gym is pitiful. First, the temperature of the Cardio room is uncontrolled, meaning its always 85+ degrees. It has been this way for years. If you complain about how hot it is (like I have tried) the staff will quickly tell you "the building is old" and the HVAC system does not work very well. Now, I'm no Bahram Akradi, but pretty sure if they invested in oh, more than one floor fan, it would probably lower the temperature in the cardio room... Second, the positioning of the TVs in the cardio room was oddly chosen to be behind large columns in the room. All the cardio machines are in this room and almost no machines have a view of the tvs, so don't expect to be able to watch them. Plus I think there are only 6 tvs visible to the equipment. Hope you like basic cable and CNBC. And Third, Lifetime has recently decided to END ALL GROUP CLASSES. Nice. In short, if you live or work downtown and are thinking about joining Lifetime don't. It's a total waste of your money. The Skyway YMCA, which is about 4 blocks away has group classes. Lots of them. It also has a cardio room that has *gasp* air conditioning. AND the best part, the treadmills have individual tv monitors that you plug your headphones into, with cable tv channels. No more stretching your neck around a column to watch some lame sitcom on CBS. I hope Lifetime moves out of this location at the end of their lease and lets a company who cares about having a decent gym buy the space. Lifetime should be ashamed.
