Tasty food and great location. McGoverns is the best place to go downtown around the xcel center to get a drink and some tasty bar food. The place is huge so even when it's crazy busy you can usually find a seat. Some of the staff is better than the others but that goes for anywhere and I like the atmosphere at this place.…

I hosted a private party at McGovern's and could not have been more pleased!!
The staff was always friendly and prompt to answer any questions or address any concerns that I had.
I wanted the party on the patio but the day of the party it rained so we moved it to the upstairs... It was a great space! TV's for the guys to watch the game, very spacious and very private! There were also darts and other games that my guests enjoyed while taking advantage of the full bar!
I read through some of the other reviews and was sad to see some that were not so great, but then I looked at the dates on them and thought, if that is how McGovern's used to be... they have done a complete 180 because I have no complaints from the staff to the food or the space we used.
As far as private parties usually go, I had a pretty small budget so with McGoverns great prices it was easy to stay within the budget I set.
I do not visit McGoverns weekly or even monthly but the times that I have been there (a handful of times in the past year) I have had a great time.
I laugh at the bartender comments... if you dont like someone or have an opinion about them or what they do, that is fine... but to put it on the web like that is just childish - in my opinion. :-)…

I highly recommend!. Whether I go to McGovern's on a night where there is a event at the Excel or a night with no event, I have always recieved awesome service from both the servers and bartenders. Great variety of food on the menu as well, I have yet to order something I did not like. Beer selection is good and also there are some fun drinks to be ordered too! For everyone that has complained about it being busy there which results in 'bad' service-McGovern's must be doing something right if they pull in the crowds time and time again. I'll gladly take slower service when it's packed.It is to be expected. I've never had an empty glass, even if it's crowded. Keep up the great work!…
