Editorial Review for Tom Reid's Hockey City Pub – by Citysearch Editors

In Short
Two blocks from Xcel Energy Center, this former workingman's bar now welcomes Dockers-clad crowds on Minnesota Wild game nights. Ample photos of the namesake's '70s sideburned self and teammates are part of the sports memorabilia displayed on the exposed brick walls. A limited menu of appetizers, burgers, sandwiches and basic entrees are available for pregame eats. Beer is the preferred beverage, but wine and other spirits are also available.

Where to Sit

Any seat is a good seat with 12 flat-screen and hanging big-screen TVs throughout the restaurant; no table is more than 10 feet away from the action.

Overprice, bad service and bad food. Don't waste your time going when there is a bar/restaurant on every corner by the Excel. Bartenders are crabby and the servers are ditsy and slow. There is nothing special about the food there, most of the time it's been sitting there - precooked for hours so they can get it out fast. For the price go somewhere respectable... I suggest McGovern's or the Liffy.

Tom Reid's hockey memorbillia is the only reason anyone should even step foot in this place. We were less than satisified with our service by an unhappy bartender, who's name i believe was Sam. Some of the other male workers there were rude with scowls on their face and looked like they wished they were some where else. The food was below average at best. My buffalo chicken sandwhich tasted like it was not thoroughly thawed out. The over priced beer and drink selection before a hockey game is not that great. If anyone is looking for a good spot to go to before any event at the XCel, I would recommend Eagle Street or Alary's. The bartender mentioned earlier, really runined our night with his attitude and service. If this is how a buisness is operated, there is something truly wrong with the service industry.

Pros: close to the X

Cons: Terrible service, over priced drinks, unhappy staff
