Best of the Best. My wife and I stayed here on our wedding night last year after a reception at W.A. Frost. We stumbled into the lobby (half-drunk) close to midnight to check in, and were treated to quite a surprise. The concierge took one look at us and upgraded our room to a luxury suite . . . for free. The next morning it was nearly impossible to get my wife to leave because, and I quote her directly "This is where we're going to live from now on." Highly reccommended for special occasions.

The Best Hotel. Is there a better hotel in St. Paul? Minneapolis? The Twin Cities? I don't think there is after going to a friend's wedding at The Saint Paul Hotel. The ballroom was absolutely breathtaking and this is from a guy's perspective. After dancing the night away, we stayed in a corner room with a view of Rice Park and it was a perfect view of the trees with lights. It is just a memorable experience.

The Best in St. Paul.. We had always dreamed of staying here and we did on our wedding night, it was amazing. It feels luxurious from the first step to the last. The staff were great, the room was meticulously clean, the view was spectacular and of course you have the nicest restaurant right downstairs, The Saint Paul Grill. Our brunch was fantastic the next day and they even let us have late check out the next morning. Since it was our wedding night they upgraded us at no charge, we were on the top floor and must have spent at least minutes just staring out at the city below, it was so beautiful. They even use all Aveda products in the room. It was a little expensive, but nonetheless unforgettable. You have to try it at least once.

The Superlative Hotel of the Upper Midwest. I will confess to a bit of a bias. My father began working at the St. Paul in 1934, and worked in the Grill for 40 years. My wife and I are dual-career professionals, and when we get a chance for a really special time away, the St. Paul has been one of our special places.

The St. Paul has a 95 year history of excellence. It has been the place of presidents, movie stars and the uber-wealthy of the old money of the midwest. The St. Paul is unlike any other hotel in the Twin Cities. It is simply old, classy, impeccable and smooth; more like Europe than anything I've seen in the US. It's walnut and old marble.

The food in the Grill is the best it's been in its history, and among the best now in the Twin Cities. It is a classic roadhouse- go for the beef and don't miss the hash browns. Everything I've eaten there in the last decade has been superlative. Service is very attentive, respectful and warm.

The St. Paul came upon hard times from the mid-60's until it closed about 1980. Even in its darkest days, many of its staff remained loyal and could not be enticed away by much more lucrative offers. That same type of esprit de corps lives on in the St. Paul today; Since it reopened in 1983, it's been remodeled twice, and the white lady has never been prouder. You owe it to yourself to try it.
