Where did you get that haircut? – Did you ever wish you were one of those people that strangers would stop and says, "where did you get that hair cut?" I had been going to another salon for about 4 years when my stylist moved. Soon after that I was at the Great Harvest Bakery on Selby and the person waiting on me had the cutest hair cut ever. I asked her who styles her hair, she said next door, 526, and it's Katrina. I made an appointment and have gone to Katrina ever since. Now I am seriously the person strangers stop on the street and ask me who cut my hair. Katrina is great. She asks what you wants and makes suggestion as to what will work and what will not. She is pleasant, smart, & caring....plus fun. I have several friends that now go to her, and they love her also. Can't get in with Katrina, you can try Brian, he is also good. I am surprised about the people who comment on the front desk staff, what would you rather have a great stylist, or a friendly staff person. My hair goes out into the public with me, not the check in person. Plus, I have not had a bad experience with them either. Just refer to me as the woman with the really great hair. Thank you Katrina!!
Excellent Customer Service! – A friend of mine referred me to 526 Salon and I booked an appointment kind of hesitantly. After chatting for a bit on the phone, the front desk person suggested that I see Laura. She took quite a bit of time to find out what type of hair I had and what I was looking for.
From the moment I walked in the door I was thoroughly impressed. The salon is gorgeous! Everything was neat and tidy and the stylists and front desk staff were so warm and friendly. Everyone seemed as though they were happy to be there and happy that I was there too.
I have never been happier with my color and I can't wait to go back!
Stylists great, customer service AWFUL – I have been going to this salon for about one year. My stylist is great, but for the second time in a six month period, my appointment that I (made 6 weeks in advance) has been lost.
The salon's response "we're sorry if that was our error, but are you sure you made the appointment for today?".
Yes. I'm sure. I am going to a reunion tonight, why would I book the appointment for 5 weeks from tonight. Thanks for your help. I will be taking my business elsewhere.
Way overpriced – I paid $150 for a cut an highlights. I had brought in two pictures of a cut I wanted and it kind of looks like it. I had also brought in a picture of the highlights I wanted and they look like something I did at home when I was 17: Completely brassy and blotchy. Laura clearly did what SHE wanted and not what I wanted. Why I tipped her $15 - I don't know. There must be a hairstylist out there who is actually worth her $50/hour. I make $20 and don't get a tip.
Great Service – I went in somewhat skeptical because I am a guy that has never been to a fancy salon before. I really enjoyed the service and the haircut that I received. I especially enjoyed the upbeat and fun receptionists that made it the best experience possible. My stylist was running late and they made me feel comfortable and relaxed while I was waiting. I would recommend this salon to anyone and everyone because it was such great service.
Much better! – UPDATE: I had originally posted that I loved my sylist at 526 but was frustrated with the front desk service due to a couple of bad experiences. However...
The front desk has been wonderful in the past 6 months. Also, the manager had somehow found out I'd written my original 3-star review and made a nice gesture to make up for my gripes.
I am impressed that 526 has worked to make things better for its customers. Nicely done! I am looking forward to continuing to use 526 services and have referred a number of people to the salon.
And I continue to find Katrina an amazingly talented stylist ;)
Would it hurt them be a little more friendly? – I was really excited to try this place, as it gets great reviews and looks very nice. I was happy with my haircut. However, I felt like a plague from the moment I walked in the door. No greeting from the front desk. No direction as to where to hang my coat, etc. My stylist, though skilled, had the personality of a dish towel and a condescending attitude to boot. Not the best traits when you make your living in a service trade.
fabulous place – Love this place. Pam did my cut and color, and did an absolutely amazing job, same or better than what I was getting at Spalon Montage for less than half the price!!! Would highly recommend her, super friendly and a great listener. Absolutely willing to do what I want, but will tell me if what I want won't work. =)
Best color and hair cut ever ( and best massage) – I have been going to 526 for a long time, they have great services and awesome employees.
That you can get the best massage in the Twin Cities ( and I have been to a lot of places ) from Amy Jo goes without saying. But yesterday was the fist time that I had my hair colored and cut by Pamela. My hair is difficult to dye and even harder to style, and she did an amazing job. She colored, cut and styled my hair differently than I have had it done before and it turned out beautifully. I had my bachelorette party that night and have never received so many complements on my hair from my friends. I am so happy with how it turned out and highly recommend her services. She does an amazing job.
Best color and cuts I've ever had. – Thanks to Desiree at 526, the fact that I'm fairly hair illiterate no longer matters. She did perfectly the exact color I wanted after I had tried other places that just didn't get it right. (I'll admit that I'm bad at describing it, but Desiree made sure that we found exactly what I wanted.) She is also very talented when it comes to cutting hair--and is not afraid to be creative when I ask her to, but incorporates the elements of a style that I request flawlessly.
