An Oriental Jewel. Start with the attentive couple/owners (who are ALWAYS there), add a range of flavorful dishes prepared with interesting spices and herbs, stir in fast service, and finish with incredibly low, low prices --- and you have the recipe for an amazing restaurant, CHENG HENG. I was fortunate to visit Cheng Heng during the first week they were opened (five years ago?) and I consistently get there at least once a week. My "usual" is Tam Yam Soup w/ Shrimp + Spring Rolls. The best.

mildly disappointing. While this restaurant does not seem to live up to its reputation (I just don't find the otherwise authentic dishes that exciting), its food is very good and it is authentic, two important qualities. It just misses that extra surprise that would make it stand with my favorite ethnic eateries or equal the hype from the critics.

Worth the hunt!. The restaurant itself is always hard for me to find...I always end up driving past it and going around the block. However, once I arrive there, the fragrant dishes soothe all of my worries. I was drug to this restaurant by a friend who climed it was her favorite place in town. The interior wasn't too exciting, but it was clean. The photo album menu (just ask for it) is helpful but cruel on an empty stomach, so make sure you ask for some spring rolls to munch on while you look. I've enjoyed every dish I've tried here, and ended up bringing several of my friends here, too. Service, too, is prompt, continuous and friendly. Hopefully this trend will continue and this exciting restaurant will grow and flourish!
