In Short – Standing on the edge of St. Paul's Como Park, Gabe's provides sanctuary, beer and sandwiches for local fans of the Green Bay Packers. When the Saints sell out nearby Midway Stadium , this bar because a healthily crowded pre- and postgame hang. While the central bar area is often choked with smoke, the outlying booths are comfortable for dining. The sandwiches, salads and appetizers are all above average.

Gabe's has recently had a Extreme Makeover!! The new owners and management have spent a tremendous time redecorating and creating a better atmosphere for the customers to enjoy cocktails or dinner. I have been in the restaurant on many occasions and love the way that they great you at the door! Now that?s good customer service! I have always had excellent service and love hearing about the new things that are going to be happening at Gabe's . Some of the things the managers have told me is the will soon introduce the new name Gabe's Roadhouse which i think fits that restaurant perfectly! I have heard that the new menu is on its way any day now, and I cant wait to get back in there and try it to enjoy more fabulous meals. This restaurant has come a long way from what it used to be. Living around the area really makes it nice to have a good restaurant only 5 mins from my house. I would defiantly recommend this to families and couples for dinner or just going to grab a few drinks during happy hour with live music!! Great job Gabe's keep up the good work! -Betsy
- Pros: Great Customer Service, Awesome Meals, Live Music during happy hour!
- Cons: Nothing

Can I just address the girl that has personally attacked Skeeter in which she has only met for a mere moment...shame on you!!! I would say that you have some deep personal issues that you need to work through...some may call it a major case of jealousy of ones friend. I have met Skeeter on several occations and he has always been a perfect gentlemen to me and all of my girlfriends that have come to Gabes. He is full of new and exciting ideas, and what changes he's made have been a pleasant surprise . He greets everyone that comes into Gabes as if they were a friend...not as some "pervert" as she had stated.
Why would anyone go online and personally bash someones reputation without even knowing them..some class. Class is what Skeeter is all about.
So..people reading the womans hateful email please disregard, because if you ask anyone they will tell you what a pleasure it is to go to Gabes and meet thier friendly staff, eat their delicious food and be greeted by Skeeter himself!
Sincerely,
AWESOME SERVICE!!!

What an improvement!!!!! Last time we went here was about 5 years ago. It went from a little sports bar to now becoming a relaxing, cool restaurant with new ideas, FABULOUS FOOD (homecooked, big portions), and friendly, attentive staff. Love how the owner and manager came out to greet us and take the time to make sure our experience was a good one! The place was bigger inside than we thought & clean with a lot of different things going on. Had the Steak special on a thursday night and we couldn't believe how much flavor & how BIGGGG!!!! Great deal - small-town feel!!! Husband ate all his, but I took half home and heated the next day with every bit of flavor it had the night before!!! Highly recommended restaurant in the heart of St.Paul!!! Keep up the Good Work!!!
- Pros: AWESOME STEAK SPECIAL!!!!!
- Cons: NONE!
The Details on Gabe's Roadhouse
Save Money:
Rotating dinner specials start at $8.99 and have included a fried shrimp special, an all-you-can eat fish fry and a 16-ounce strip steak.
Sports Bar:
This isn't just a football bar, though: When the St. Paul Saints minor league baseball team set up shop at Midway Stadium, Gabe's got in on the ground floor by providing a bus ("the Big Pig") to and from games and selling tickets to bar patrons.
The Extras:
Gabe's changed its name in late 2008, but the same hometown, neighborhood-bar charm still remains. Best of all, Gabe's now offers more food options, including dinners like grilled New York strip, chicken kiev and more. Plus, the burgers are bigger and jucier than ever. Think of it like a supper club with all of the fixins, including 14 giant HDTVs for checking out nearly every game on the planet.
