Fabulous catfish and wings!.
I had the Texas sampler which included cornmeal fried catfish(YUM!), 2 big chicken wings, 2 ribs, bbq beans, and cole slaw for $12! Wife had pulled pork sandwhich with fries for $7.
The catfish was the best I'd ever had with their hot sauce on the side. The wings had a very good seasoning, tasted grilled rather than deep fried. The ribs were meaty and a little oversauced. Cole slaw was great, but the bbq beans need more work.
The pulled pork sandwich was large and the pork was perfect with the right amount of sauce and a godd amount of "crust" mixed in. They should put some in the beans to give it the right flavor that's missing.
Lee's and Dee's is not all that.. Lee and Dee's Stinks. The food was marginal and over-priced. Famous Dave's a chain is better they will ever be and that is sad.
Good BBQ.
The first time I went to Lee & Dee's it was on a whim as I figured, "Why not? It could turn out great." Well I'm glad I took that first step as I've been back many times now. I've heard rave reviews about the catfish and wings, but I'm a rib guy and once I had Lee & Dee's ribs I haven't considered anything else on the menu. They are probably the meatiest in town and they serve them just how I like them; all sauced up.
Dine-in or take out the ribs are some of the best in town.
Good stuff. Stopped by for dinner and the ribs were excellent. Great catfish as well. Forget Famous Dave's and get real thing at Lee & Dee's.
i would'nt go there again.
Hooligans hanging around front of restaurant did'nt seem very welcoming.
Neither did the guy behind the counter.
Tha b.b.q. was the worst i've ever had .................
I could've put up with bad service if the food had been even decent but there you have it.
Authenticate bbq - hot wings. This place has some of the best ribs in the twin cities - if you're a regular at applebees and chili's, visiting Lee and Dee will open your eyes (not to mention your taste buds) to authenticate southern cooking. They have about 7 tables in the restaurant, and it's not known for its atmosphere. What they are known for are their ribs, the bbq is slow cooked and falls off the bone, the tips are awesome as well. If you like spicy, give the wings a try - they will clear your sinuses while lighting up your taste buds. This is a hidden gem in Saint Paul, and one that I keep on my speed dial.
A Southern couple offers Yankees soul food from the heart..
In Short
Lee Smith, the Mississippi-bred owner, got his start selling his homemade chicken wings to bars in St. Paul. In 1993 he and his wife, Dee, opened their own place. Dee takes orders from neighborhood folks, and Lee brings out food with a smile. Lots of customers carry out, but the clean, humble digs are fine for dining in. For sides, there's beans, fries and slaw. Then there's messy, meaty ribs and hot chicken wings.
