Cahoots is a great local coffee shop. The employees are some of the friendliest I've encountered. There are a ton of seating options: a funky bar, small tables, big tables, and a really awesome patio. The food and drinks are of excellent quality.. The homemade hummus is delicious and their mochas are to die for (and I used to be a barista.) Cahoots is definitely worth checking out (over and over again.)

Atmosphere is bohemian...bordering on seedy. But the staff and customers are all friendly & laid back. The coffee is great! They always have cool art and imported textiles available for sale. Secret alley in back is very charming - reminds me of European dive. This is one of the few places in SP that had been given the Golden Cup. They earn it! PROS: coffee! CONS: CJ is scary ;)

When to Go:
Look for live bands and soloists Friday and Saturday nights and tarot card readings Friday afternoons. Those with a literary bent should call for a schedule of poetry readings
