Tips for Tom's Tailor

Cheap materials, uninterested in customer satisfaction. Tom’s Tailors did not give me the alteration I asked for in fact he did just the opposite of what we agreed upon.

Tom’s Tailors had no interest in correcting the problem rather he blamed me and demanded I pay as he is “not making any money on me.”

Tom’s Tailors used cheap materials.

I will need to have the job Tom’s Tailor’s did re-done elsewhere.

Excellent Tailoring at an Affordable Price. I love Tom's Tailors. Having moved to St. Paul several years ago, I was originally afraid I wouldn't be able to find a tailor that does good work at a cheap price, but I found Tom to be all that and then some. I took in a pair of pants that needed numerous changes—waist taken in, large hem, leg narrowed. When I got them back, you couldn't even tell there had been work done on them, and I paid something like 20 or 30 bucks for everything (can't remember exactly). Tom's extremely friendly, and has a great eye for what he does; he suggested the narrower leg, and it really looks great. I've gone back several times and never been disappointed. For a place that serves several big Twin Cities residents (I saw Garrison Keillor once when I went in to pick something up), they stay grounded. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Puzzlingly Overrated. I've tried. I've really tried. Since Tom's Tailors seems to be so well-liked and there are few reputable alternatives in the area, I've brought them several alterations over the last year or so. Two out of three results are unacceptable -- even with further work they seem to incapable of getting it right, and this includes very simple repairs. For example, pant hems are finished more roughly than the store-bought originals and don't hang right; items that need to be taken in wind up too tight at the waist but bulging out beneath. In general, the work reflects a lack of attention to detail and understanding of fit. As for the customer service, while it is moderately friendly, the place seems to be very disorganized despite ample staffing and it often takes them a long time to locate peoples' orders, even with a ticket.

THE BEST EVER!!!!. My husband just brought a suit in to be fixed. We are going out to a fancy dinner for his birthday on Friday and was wondering if he would be able to fix a whole in the slacks. Not only did he fix it right then and there, he didn't even charge my husband for the service!!! It's nice to see that some companies still care about there patrons and the service they provide!!!

Great Customer Service. Tom's Tailor is a great asset to the Grand Avenue area. Tom is professional, and manages a strong small business. The alterations done at his shop are so well done it is usually very difficult to tell where the changes were made. I've trusted him with many of my favorite pieces and have always been impressed with their work.
