44.939904 -93.146762Cajun Cajun Cajun. This is a hidden gem, those who don't know about it are missing out. Great food, ambiance (hole in the wall) and quick cheerful service....and did I mention the cajun?
Eggstroidinairy!.
This is THE place to have breakfast... yup, the portions are huge... eggs are fixed exactly to your order, sausage is quite tasty (not bland like some places). Service with a smile is what you'll get here and the prices are very reasonable, for the amount that comes on your plate!.
The atmosphere is equally nice; layed-back and cheery. I love watching the chef wheel his spatula on the grill... fast and furious!. GOOD music plays always.
There are very few good breakfast nooks, but this one's a GEM. You can also get take-out on the fly.
Keep up the fantastic job to all who work so hard there!

very good breakfast.
We just returned from our first time at the Uptowner. We heard gret things from people and we were not disappointed. Good sized portions made it east for sharing. My wife and son really loved the pancakes, said they almost tased like a cake with a hint of vanilla.
Only 1 small drawback is the seating. Not recommended for families larger than 4 as you may need to split up between tables and booths. But this was not enough to deter us from staying and waiting for a table to open and squeeze the 5 of us in. Very busy atmosphere and our server was very friendly and could have easily been crabby with how hard she was working.
Yummy big size breakfast at almost any time of the day.
This is a great neighbor hood breakfast joint. Nothing amazing here culinary but you will be greeted by a nice smile, fast service, and good homemade greasy spoon style foods. Breakfast is there focal point and it is served all day long (3-4AM depending the day).
Come hungry and order few items cause the sizes are great to share.
Good breakfast place. In my opinion, the no smoking ban in St. Paul has done more for the uptowner than any other restaurant in St. Paul. We have always liked the food at the uptowner, but the atmosphere was not all that great, as it is small and used to be very smoky. The food is still godand now the air is fresh and the restaurant has an overall "cleaner" feel to it.
