Tips for Green Mill Brewing Co

February 10, 2010

Citysearch Editorial Review. Years before Green Mill became a map-dotting franchise with dozens of locations around the Midwest, this original location was a singular neighborhood treasure, known mainly for perfecting a recipe for Chicago-style deep dish pizza. With wait times of up to an hour for these dense, delicious pies, no wonder they used to house stand-up arcade games to help anxious kids pass the time. These days, the pizza is still superior, but the overall flavor of the restaurant has gone a bit more bland, with an expanded menu of so-so entrees and loads of TVs on the walls. On the bright side, the addition of a full-blown brew pub on the premises adds a bit of character in the form of lovingly crafted tap beers.

Experience with Pizza toppings that had gone bad. We have loved this pizza in the past, and don't get to treat ourselves out to dinner much any more with two small children, could not wait to have a Deep Dish pizza delivered. We created our own, portabella mushrooms, goat cheese and spinach, we've gotten it before and loved it. This time, something didn't taste right, we couldn't put a finger on it until about halfway through our first pieces, then I found the culprit. It seems the portabellas had gone bad. When we called the restaurant they said they would not refund our money but would send a gift card for the amount of the pizza $26. The mail from there to my home should take 2 days, it's been 4 and we're waiting for the refund, I'm not expecting to get it either. Truthfully, I don't want to eat there again so don't even think I would use it anyway. Rip off!

Local pizza chain continues to bring in droves of families and friends with gourmet pies and pastas.. In Short
From sports fans whooping it up at the bar to kids playing at tables and high booths, Green Mill is a rambunctious scene. The decor is surprisingly nice, given the family-friendly vibe: mahogany wood paneling, decorative glass dividers, brick walls and artsy glass light sconces. Most everyone comes for the pizza, whether it's deep-dish, stuffed or on a cracker-thin seasoned crust. Other dishes include seafood pastas and hot Italian subs.

Great pizza & awesome beer. Green Mill in St Paul has the best pizza around, bar none. Any and all of their toppings are fresh and delectable. I usually think salads are a waste of time, but the GM cobb salad is to die for. They also have heavenly wings and plenty of delicous, micro-brewed beer to wash it all down with. The staff has always been friendly to me. I don't like the new humongous TV's in there, and all the expansions they're opening up make me fear that they're trying to become like Friday's and the other strip-mall stink-holes. As long as the St Paul one remains the same, that's the one I'm going to. I wouldn't recommend the steak.

Grumpy Staff. We waited too long to be served, and had to hear a busboy complain about how he hated serving families with small children as we sat there with our one-year-old. Too crowded, not effecient, too many TVs, and the food was mediocre.

Accept no imitations. This is the only Green Mill you should ever go to. The rest are merely corporate wanna-be knock-off travesties. This Green Mill makes fantastic pizza and has a good selection of beers.

The decor is unique among Green Mills and does not conform to the standard suburban strip mall incarnation of this chain.

When I went here the pizza was served hot, and to my specifications in a timely fashion. Is there anything more you could really want?

warm and welcoming. I enjoyed this bar/pizzeria. Its televisions are numerous and modern, the atmosphere is woody and friendly. Families with small children are the perfect antidote for any loneliness. The beer selection is very limited (it only offers its own bland creations) but the menu is large. Wings and quesadillas were tasty, desert was mediocre. Surprisingly, the pizza I had was awful. My topping was so scarce the bartender had to take it off the bill. But he missed the point, the whole pizza was a mistake.

Green Mill Pizza!. Oh My God. It is divine. There is a Green Mill Pizza in Brainerd, Minnesota, the lakes area - two hours north of Minnesota that my friends and I go to whenever we vacation in the area. It is the best. We would not go anywhere else for pizza.

The only thing I did not like is the topping limits that you have which they aloow you to put on the pizza.

They do it your way!. Thin, deep, hand-tossed...choose your favorite pizza style at GM. Our fav is the pescara...herbed dough between thin & thick. A plus is there is viewing area to watch the pizza being made & the cooks will give your child a piece of raw dough to play with while you wait! Our favorite pizza spot!
