Can't say I liked the changes. My husband and I have frequented the Lex for years. Just went for the first time since the ownership changed. Prices were higher - food more ale carte than in the past. I used to get the caesar salad with my dinner. That wasn't a choice. Paid extra for the vegetable. Steak was mediocore at best. I don't mind paying more but I sure want my dinner back.

over priced lunch, bad service.. Yesterday a group of Senior Citizens came for lunch, part of a 'Y' day out. The menu was not sent ahead of time tho it was asked for. Bottom line........said seniors paid about $30.00 each for LUNCH. Service was bad, checks got all mixed up. Word travels fast in this town

Do not expect to see any of us again. .

Love the Lex. I have always (25+ yrs) been a fan of the Lexington. My favorite lunch dish is "The Marine" and I always think of the Lex when I crave a seafood salad and girlfriend company.

The Chicken Pot Pie is excellent cold weather comfort food.

This weekend we will be there for a great steak, we'll ask for a table in the bar (love no smoking!!!) for wonderful martinis and romantic atmosphere. Wish my favorite waitress Bessma worked those hours.

Do not go here for brunch. I went here for Sunday brunch with my fiance, we ordered the eggs benedict and the crab cake eggs benedict, mine was mediocre at best, my fiance didn't even finish his, and he eats everything. The prices were high and the food was disappointing. The English muffins tasted like cheap frozen muffins from the local megamart, the eggs were not properly cooked, and the sauce was bland, like it came from a jar. Save your money, go to Salut for their eggs benedict, it is to die for!

Good Service, Not Good Food. I have a culinary background.

I've been to the Lexington twice now, and I would not go again. There are just too many GREAT places out there to waste a penny there.

Each time the food is over cooked, and just nasty.

My Mother likes the place, so that is the reason we dined there this weekend, but I could not see myself going there or recommend it to anyone.

Consistently excellent food and service. I just attended a large birthday party here, with diners from 4 up to 80 years old, and everyone was extremely well cared for by the friendly and competent staff. Of course I've also dined at the "Lex" in smaller groups, and always found the food and service first rate. But the way they rose to the larger challenge really cemented their reputation, in my mind. They just know how to take care of people. Prices are reasonable for the caliber of cuisine. It may not be adventurous or exotic fare, but what they do, they do well. Highly recommended.

Exquisite Comfort Food in Unstuffy Elegance. I was a freshly fledged Ph.D. when, 35 years ago, I came to Saint Paul to interview for a teaching job at Hamline U. To get to know me, the faculty took me to The Lexington, and I must say I was impressed. I got the job and moved to St. Paul. Five years later, I was watching my son perform in his very first band concert at Webster Magnet School. He was in third grade, and he had just gotten his first suit. After the concert, he told me he wanted to go eat at The Lexington. Where he got the idea, I don't know, but it was a great idea. Once more, I was impressed; however, when he ordered the pheasant, I gulped: I was just starting a business and the budget was exceedingly tight. I guess my brain must have clicked into the idea that The Lex was too expensive, because I didn't get back there until a month ago--and then I wondered why I had waited so long. The Lex serves the best crabcakes in town, terrific crispy green beans (how do they do it?), calamari, barbecue. Prices are definitely reasonable! In case you're showing off on a budget, though, here's a tip: go for lunch. The Lex is a great place for romance, business and family celebrations. Few restaurants can handle all that and still be there when you want comfort food in unstuffy elegance.

Great for a family celebration.. We went to the Lexington for a family gathering, 12 of us in all. We had excellent service, although a little slow. Since this was a birthday celebration and we were all visiting, this was fine with us. All of the meals were wonderful - barbecued ribs, walleye almondine, rueben sandwich, turkey dinner - as were the desserts - bread pudding, chocolate cake, cheesecake. This was a wonderful setting for a family celebration.

A St. Paul staple since 1935, this is the place to go for momentous occasions.. In Short
The Lexington is a posh watering hole with devotional service in a chandelier-lit dining room. The curving mahogany is the perfect place to order a perfect martini. On any given night, many diners mark important occasions. Traditionally prepared prime rib and chateaubriand are the fanciest menu staples. Fresh fish and pasta specials are also available. The steak and seafood combo includes a petite filet and walleye amandine.

Excellent Restaurant. My girlfriend and I went here for Valentines Day, and we were very satisfied. Neither of us had heard of the place before we went, but I had gotten a tip from a coworker. We were pleased that we went here when we left. The food was excellent and fairly reasonable. The service was quick and everyone there was very friendly. The ambience of the place makes for an excellent date spot. They even had two guys playing a violin and accordian there for Valentines Day. It was great. I definitely plan on returning.
