Great!!! Mexican!!!. I don't know what's up with the low-star ratings of some other users because I've always been impressed with this place. Atmosphere is somewhere between quaint and shnazzy but the food is to die for!

I usually get the Chicken Mole' and a Negro Modelo. Can't wait to go back there.

Maybe the food is too authentic for the common Minnesota Gringo?

Love. Love Boca Chica, great food and great atmosphere! Perfect for date night or a celebration with a group! The food never dissapoints and is reasonably priced! Also there are coupons on living social and groupon regularly. One of our favorite places to eat!

Standard fare. I see no reviews for two and a half years. At least this one is recent (10 Sept 2010). Our party of six ate here because of generally positive reviews, extolling the "authentic" Mexican food a cut above others. Since each of us got a different entree, and we passed them around, I think our experience is likely representative. In short, the food is nothing more than what is offered at twenty million other "Mexican" venues. The soup, included in many of the meals, was almost tasteless and could've been from a can. I got a pork guisado (stew) with cactus because it's been mentioned in some reviews as being particularly good. It certainly wasn't bad, but it was underseasoned and nothing special. Not one of us thought it's worth going here for the food. Our particular waitress, while friendly, took an eternity to take our initial orders and constantly confused who got what dish. She was also clueless when it came to wine. Knowing the difference between Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon is pretty basic. On the positive side, the restaurant is very colorful, with attractive paintings on the walls. For such mediocre fare, the prices are too high. As for those who claim this is "authentic" Mexican food, you might want to educate yourselves about what's authentic. Start by taking a look at any of Diane Kennedy's cookbooks in a bookstore. You don't have to buy them; just leaf through one.

Don't listen to the bad reviews!. We were on the fence about dining here because of the "love it or hate it" reviews....seemed like it might be hit-or-miss. However, we went anyway and had a GREAT overall experience. I'm glad we decided to judge it for ourselves, and I also noticed that the negative reviews are a few years old, so maybe they have picked it up a bit? The margaritas were fantastic, we all thoroughly enjoyed our entrees, the atmosphere was great, and we have no complaints about the service. The parking lot is not big enough, but we just parked across the street at the Boca Chica fast food restaurant and hoped that they were the same owners and wouldn't mind!! We are definitely going back and would recommend it to anyone!

Best Mexican Restaurante!. This place has the most authentic mexican food around! The carnitas is excellent. The best margarita by far is the "Don" and well worth the price.

Tasty Food; Great Food Service. We almost didn't eat here after reading some of the reviews for this Restaurant. I am glad that we ignored the bad reviews and tried it anyways, because we really liked it. The bartenders were less than friendly (too busy flirting with a couple of single girls...but I guess that is what bartenders do), but once we got seated our server was great. They do give you free chips and salsa now and the salsa was very fresh tasting. I thought the food was excellent - nice big portions and great flavor. Will definitely eat here again.

Be prepared to be underwhelmed. The food was marginal (greasy, tasteless). The drinks were weak (couldn't taste the liquor in the margaritas) and everything was over priced ($13 for a plate of spanish rice, refried beans and one taco looking thing).

Spend a few more minutes looking up another place to eat tonight.

not worth the price. I thought the West side was known for its Mexican food, but not at this place. High priced for what you get, and they don't give you complimentary chips and salsa? Major disappointment. Staff wasn't all too thrilled to serve us, either. I would not return by choice. I agree with the last review: Taco Bell is much cheaper and tastes just as good.

The vibe at this lively family-owned restaurant is warm and welcoming. Customers range from local politicians to neighborhood families and folks who've trekked across town for authentic Mexican food. Lovely murals depicting scenes from Mexican mythology cover the walls. Everything from beans to guacamole is made from scratch daily. Stray from familiar burritos and enchiladas and you'll discover quisados de puerco, a spicy, hearty pork stew and rich, chocolaty mole poblano.
