Enjoyable Experience. I grew up in San Diego & Fort Worth, the food is the same as I remember it! My mexican friend's mother's food all over again! Great dining experience!
Forget it!. It continues to amaze me that Boca Chica continues to receive rave reviews! It is without a doubt one of the worst Mexican restaurants I've ever experienced. The service is rude, and the food is just plain bad. They even have the gaul to charge for stale chips and salsa. No way . . . never again.
I LOVE Boca Chica's. If you're looking for a good margarita and a great place for lunch or dinner, go here. Good service, I've never waited to be seated, awesome (and fairly authentic, too!) food, and a fun atmosphere too. Use their catering as well, I was very pleased when I catered for about 20 people this summer.
Skip the Lunch Buffet. Went there for lunch and tired the buffet. The quality of the food was lacking, but did have some taste. The taco was different, but felt like I could have gone to Taco Bell and got a Chilupa. Nice atmosphere though.
very overrated. I went to this place expecting some great mexican food. There was nothing special about this place except for it's decor that lures in all of the high rollers. The food I admit was not bad but the service sure was lacking. Also, they charge you for the chips and salsa! What kind of mexican place charges for the chips and salsa! Not to mention the chips were probably made a week ago and weren't worth the energy to chew them. This is a typical restaurant that is rated high because of the people that go there and couldn't tell a good restaurant if it hit them in the face.
Worst Mexican Food Ever!.
You call that Mexican Food? I was Born and rasied in San Digo and grew up on Mexican Food. This has got to be the most overpiced garbage I've ever ate.
The sevice was aweful, Slow and very Rude!
I will never go back and will let everyone I know how terrible this place is.
A great Place to Eat!!. I found Boca Chica to be the best Mexican Restaurant in the Twin Cities. I have eaten at many Mexican restaurants and this one is on the top of my list. The food is as authentic as you can get. I recomend the enchaladas and the Chille Relleno con Carne, the Enchaladas (try all of them) and the los tres amigos (sopes). All are exceptionally great. I'd go to this restaurant over any other mexican restaurant in the cities.
Definitely a Unique experience. I was very pleased with my dining experience at this pleasant family owned restaurant. This is the most authentic mexican cuisine I have found so far in the twin cities. The chicken and steak plazero was awesome. The bar gives great service. I would definitely recommend this to those seeking out a similar experience.
Will not go back. Compared to the many excellent Mexican restaurants in the Twin Cities, I found Boca Chica very disappointing. It was overpriced, and the food was mediocre at best. In fact the blended Margarita was the most watered-down Margarita I've ever been served! This was my second visit to Boca Chica, and it was no better than my first experience. It's very overrated, and I will not go back.
Class votes C-. My Spanish class in college had to pick one of a couple authentic restaurants to visit, eat at and critique for an assignment. While over half of the class visisted this particular restaurant, only ONE of us (out of that 12) were satisfied. The food was boring and did not taste good. We were not impressed. It has a GREAT rep so maybe all of our standards were too high but we thought it was nothing special.
