Awful service. I went here on a slow day and the cashier/server said I should seat myself. I found a table in the big room and waited and waited for a server. Finally, I walked to the front counter and asked if they could take my order. The older gentleman (probably the owner) rolled his eyes in disgust and said, "she'll take your order. By the way, did you come through the side door." I said, "No, I came through the front door." While paying for the meal at the cash register, I noticed a jar that said, "Ashes of problem customers." The cashier then gave me a pen to sign the credit card slip and it spilled ink all over my hands.
Under new management?.
I had eaten at this restaurant twice before over the last three or four years while visiting my bother or sons living in the Cities. The service was always prompt and curtious- until yesterday. We got to the restaurant about 8:45 AM. They did not seem to be busy. There was only one other table taken in the south dining room when we got there- but it took about 15 minutes to order and another 20 to 25 minutes to get our order. (The lady at the next table speculated that they must have went to Bagdad to get our order.) When we got our order my brother's eggs were not cooked- he had asked for them over easy. we expected the yoke to be runny, but the egg white was runny too. When we asked the waitress about them she defended the cook by saying if you want the whites cook- you have to ask for them over mendium- must be a local thing that I am not aware of. She did offer to get him new eggs but he said he would eat the raw ones. A few minutes later a rather hefty gentleman- we thought he was the cook, came out and asked what the problem was- he was very intemidating- standing over us and obviously acting like an aggressor rather than a mediator. He offered to make different eggs- half heartedly I would say and they said with what the three of us thought was a very demeaning tone that he hoped the rest of our day was better. Turns out he ran the cash register when we paid the bill and he again told us that we were all wet and to have a nice day anyway.
It use to be a treat to go there- not anymore- in my opinion, the waitress and managers need customer relations training very badly.
2 words: Breakfast Burrito. Awesome breakfast burrito with wonderful refried beans. Incredible french toast pockets stuffed with sweetened cream cheese and topped with fresh strawberries and blueberries. I'll be back. There's a lot of items on the breakfast menu I still want to try.
Phenomenal breakfast. Some of the best breakfast food you'll ever have. Not for those on strict diets or with sensitive pallets. The food is generally seasoned well, especially if you opt for the chorizo sausage. But everything is hand made from scratch. The atmosphere is unlikely to impress, but the food will.
