Trimmed stem to stern in mahogany, brass and bronze, this restored towboat takes advantage of the windows and portals in its tiered design to lure light into each room. Sleeping quarters feature a mix of ingeniously built-in cabinets and simple furnishings from the Covington's mid-20th-century work era. Salvaged fixtures, nautical antiques and historic art provide tasteful reminders of the Mississippi River and the inn's past life.

The Details
The five staterooms are designed to capitalize on the structural nooks and crannies of the three-story boat. Each is surprisingly luxurious, with a private bath, deck access, a working fireplace and air-conditioning. Daily housekeeping service is included, telephone and modem hook-ups are available upon request, and channel surfers should know that rooms are television-free. Full breakfast is complimentary.
