Horrible, horrible, horrible treatment by one of the staff. The night started off great. Great music and two large reserved tables of 16 friends, all professionals in our late 30's and early 40's. We had really good service from our servers and we enjoyed the music for two hours.

Towards the end of the night, when 1/3 of their crowd left, three of us were standing near the bar. In this place, this is a MAJOR, MAJOR no no. You cannot stand anywhere in this place without a lecture from this old lady, not even in the empty bar!

It's one thing to be talked to with respect (e.g., "thanks for coming out tonight, I know it's emptying out, but would you please step over here to talk.") but it's another to be treated like crap from a classless, rude, hag that lectures you as a child. Zero respect and zero attempt to be addressed as an adult.

This person was so rude, we had another patron in his 60's witness the unbelievable interaction and come up to us and say "what a f'n bitch."

After our the scolding, we moved to a side table, away from our large group, and sat down. After we settled up with our servers, two of us stood up to put our coats on to leave. MISTAKE!! The old lady was immediatelty in our face angry again. And I mean angry. Again, zero customer service and zero respect.

Go there for the music. We really enjoyed the show. Our servers did a great job. Expext to be yelled at and treated like death-row cattle if you ever stand somewhere in this joint. If you enjoy watching people get worked-up, I encourage you to stop over and stand in the bar for a 'delightful' interaction with a joyless, rude woman. She's really is in the wrong role, and because of her, we will never be back.

Mellow out over lunch..... Fantastic food, splendid service, awesome ambiance!

Lunch was a test run. Dakota passed with soothing elegance. The club layout is impressive with openness of a New Orleans street cafe. The exposed brick warmed the space.

Michael was assisted by the rest of the staff and the service just kept flowing as did the recorded jazz.

The burger was done perfectly and very tasty. The perfect dessert: vanilla ice cream, coffee and Benedictine finished off my two hour stay.

Dinner will be next...soon.

My sincerest thanks for a pleasant experience.

Great Jazz Great Food. I have enjoyed the food and music at the Dakota for years.

Whether it is a light dinner in the bar or the full deal in the restaurant I have always been pleased. The intimate environment for jazz is awesome.

Serious Music, Get Serious About the Food. Having read mixed reviews about the Dakota's Restuarant, my wife and I went on a Saturday night in July.

After being seated in the upstairs portion of the dining room, we were promptly greeted by the waite staff. That was the only prompt event of the evening. Our Hendricks Martinini (Up) arrived warm. We then placed our 3 course menu order.

After some delay, the first course arrived. The Mushroom Tart was acceptable, the Scallops forgettable. 1 hour later, 90 minutes after placing it, our main course arrived. The Halibut was fit for airplane food. The Ravioli even worse.

Sensing our disappointment, the wait staff explained that the kitchen space was much too small for the venue." The staff worked miracles every night just to get the food out".

Under such circumstances, why not acknowledge it is a Jazz Club, serve drinks and bar food, and forget about trying to be a dining destination.

Not a great experience. I am an A train member - the low end, but one none the less. I go to concerts at the Dakota about three times a month and generally have a good experience. Tonight, however, that was not the case.

I bought a ticket to a show online - my decision to attend this show wasn't the performer, but the combination of performer and being able to reserve my favorite seat.

When I arrived, I discovered that I had been "upgraded" to an inferior seat and someone else had been given mine. After informing me that there is a disclaimer on their website somewhere that gives them the legal right to do this, they tried putting me in a less inferior seat, but I was so angry that they had taken this liberty I couldn't enjoy the concert.

I left after twenty minutes of staring a the back of the performer's head. On the way out, the girl in charge of the A train memberships suggested that I ask the man sitting in my reserved seat if I could share the table with him since he didn't bring a guest. I was just appalled.

This experience breaks my heart becuase I really want to like this place and I've dumped a ton of money into it. But, this was too unprofessional and rude to ignore.

Amazing. Jack loves his regulars and we love him too. The best steak we ever had (Ribeye).

cool music, amazing service, and a chef who really cares.

Vegetarians, beware.. I went here on a date that just happened to be on Friday the 13th, the day before Valentine's day. Unbeknownst to me, there was a special "valentine's" menu - with a drastically overpriced 4 course menu. The only item that looked vegetarian was the cauliflower soup. This $15 soup was approximately 1/3 or 1/4 of a cup of soup. With a piece of brioche with lobster on top! (To justify the $15 charge?)

Music = good. Food = overpriced, puny portions.

expensive, but worth it.. Went for a live jazz event and a romantic dinner. I'm not used to the shared table, but besides that the night went smoothly. The steak was good, the ambiance was haute and the show was superb-- albeit the prices ARE a bit high.

Dank, arrogant and over-priced. This was my first visit to the Dakota Jazz Club and I cannot imagine ever going back. We paid $65/head to listen to one hour of live music. $30 for a bottle of $7.00 wine. I ordered the ceaser salad. Actually the menu said something like "heart of romaine with ceaser dressing. It was $9.00 and one of the least expensive items on the menu. When the waitress took my order she asked if I'd like chicken as well on my salad. That sounded good, so I said yes. My friend ordered the crabcakes for $12.50.

When the food came, I nearly laughed out loud, the portions were so small! My heart of romaine with chicken ($5.00 extra) was about six romaine leaves and no more than 2 oz of chicken along with a tablespoon of salad dressing. My friend got three crabcakes no bigger tatertots. They did give us a small plate of bread as well.

The people sitting at the next table ordered the steak. I think it was $21. They got a six ounce steak, frozen fries, a little bit of grilled mixed vegetables and the bread plate.

The music was good, and while I found the menu limited and arrogant, the little food we did eat was good, too. Wait staff was fine as well, but for 200 bucks, I want excellent. What a disappointment!
