When it was finally my turn I found out why - the cashier was pushing everyone to buy a $.99 beverage - I had to tell him no 4 times. No bowls for the soup, no bags for your lunch. All the employees looked grumpy, except for the guy pushing soda. They probably need their jobs but the management BLOWS!
Accused of stealing soda pop!.
My daughter and her three kids patronized the Old Country Buffet in Roseville and had a humiliating experience with the staff. My daughter, a college graduate, purchased an adult buffet for herself and children’s buffets for her kids, and ordered drinks for her kids, but not for herself. In front of her kids and all who were within earshot, one of the staff accused her of pouring a soda for herself, which she did not do, and demanded that she pay for it. In spite of my daughter’s protesting and proclaiming her innocence, the staff member would not let her be until she paid for a beverage she never had. My daughter brought a manager into the discussion, even offering the plastic cup as evidence to show that it contained water. The manager would not even look at the cup, saying he stood by his employee’s word that libeled my daughter. I work in customer service, and I always give the benefit of the doubt first to my customers. Certainly, I would not jeopardize business over something as trivial as a soda pop. Libel is not to be taken lightly, and one should have proof before asserting accusations at anyone. When my daughter and her kids were exiting the restaurant, one of her kids said something to the effect of “Mommy, did you steal some pop?”
