In Short
Boomerangs, Aussie flags, kangaroo portraits and faux aboriginal art honor the homeland's wilderness, but Outback delivers a polished version of rusticity with varnished blond-wood booths with matching wainscoting and casually uniformed waitstaff. Besides more than a half-dozen cuts of steak, diners can pick from large-portioned entrees like ribs, chops and shrimp or chicken "on the barbie." The Bloomin' Onion, a large onion dipped in batter and deep-fried, is an appetizer with a following.

I have had a gift certificate for a dinner at Outback for years and everytime I try to redeem it there is either a long line or some other service glitch. The kicker was trying to seat 4 adults and 2 kids at a 4-seat table after waiting for over an hour for what we were being told was a 40 minute wait.

I think the Outback is the best nationwide steakhouse for value and flavor out there! We've eaten at Outbacks from the east coast to the west, and they're consistently good. Quality like a fine restaurant with prices closer to a low budget steakhouse than an upscale one, but with food taste and quality that rivals any upscale steakhouse, ESPECIALLY in the use of spices department! Their stuff actually has flavor, and they have the best "Bloomin" (or flowering, or whatever you want to call it) onion around. The creamy onion Walkabout soup is awesome, if you are in an Outback that serves it (not all of them do). We like the Snelling Avenue Outback, which currently carries the creamy onion soup on the weekends. Try the Outback Special, in our opinion it is the best steak on the menu and a better value than several of the others.
