Everything I've seen in Los Angeles... except BETTER!
by JSpirtos
Occupying a tail end of a hard to get to strip mail I thought this chatted up shop (Hans @ Uncle Svens told me about this place, thank you!) was going to be another let down (see my review of Dreamhaven Books & Comics) though the second I opened the doors I knew I was home. The Source carries everything a Nerdyboy Fanboy needs! Comics Books, Manga, Statues, RPG and more. The gaming section, more than half the size of the store, is pretty impressive. Not only do they have practically every gaming accessory imaginable (including a whole book section on war battle tactics) there's plenty of tables to throw down at. If your ever in town you should give them a visit!
The Place to Be!

Have you been here? It's like a Comic Book & Game paradise! Easily the largest selection of spectacular stuff I've ever seen. The width and depth of their selection is absolutely amazing! There's always something new and exciting! The staff has a level of expertise that is unsurpassed. It's obvious they love what they do and they do it like nobody else. In addition, they're kind and considerate to their customers and very active in supporting local charities and folks in need. Be careful going to this store, because if you do, you'll be spoiled forever!
- Pros: The very best of the best!
- Cons: There's only one location!
Not to bad...

I think that this used to be one of the best gaming stores in the cities... then they became so big and lost that home townie type of flavor they used to have. They used to remember you when you came in but I moved and have not gone in as often as I used to.. so that may be the cause too hehe). My point is though it just does not have the same feel it did before. The books for gaming (old D&D books) are stuffed in drawers now and the 4th edition stuff is displayed on circular spinning displays instead of on the old magazine type racks like they used to.
While I still go there I do not go as often because it just does not seem the same. I like my game store to be warm and inviting and "The Source" just does not have that feel anymore. Now I do have to agree if this store does not have something chances are no store will likely have it.. if it is new. If it is used I will debate that issue as there are small game stores in the cities that will have just as likely a chance to have it over this store too.
The service is decent.. if you do not mind going to the counter and waiting your turn to ask a question. I will continue to go here once in a while, but it definitely is becoming less and less compared to years past.
- Pros: Huge line of gaming materials...
- Cons: It is almost like a gaming department store now. lost that invitiing feel they once had
