Avoid at all cost, dont recommend – Ordered one of their chicken dishes tonight, sorry to say; but it tasted like what I would imagine fried cardboard would taste like. I paid twenty five dollars for my dinner selection here, so I gave it my best to finish my plate; however an hour or so later I regretted it terrible, I started getting nauseated quickly followed by not uncontrollable projectile vomiting, but I was over my toilet praying and vomiting. I felt a little better and went and laid down, about twenty minutes later I suddenly started feeling very sick and started to vomit again. I don’t usually post comments about places I ate at even when they are good, however I couldn’t help myself after this tragic food consumption.
I should’ve stopped when the chicken was too hard, and seem to be over cooked. I just believed maybe it was a bad bite, wrong part of the chicken; but I learned my lesson. This experience was unfair and far from any I have ever experienced, and I honestly dont recommend this place. I read some of the reviews claiming they ate here for years, I don’t believe them at this point. If they had, I’m sure they would’ve learned this lesson a long time ago.
Stick to a place your personal being recommended by a personal friend; this place is not it, and unless you like feeling sick like you were on a long boat ride I would avoid this place at all cost.
No offense but I don’t believe this other reviews come from a reliable source, I ate here once and I never had this problems with a delivery place ever. I’m planning on also reporting them to some one that will take a safety look into their food prep practice’s.
Try their Wonton Soup TODAY! – The food here is amazing! My boyfriend and I eat here at least once a week. It is a family owned restaurant, and they give us exceptional service! Once I forgot my leftovers, and the owner ran them out to the parking lot for me. How nice! Not to mention the food here is great! The best place to eat on Rice Street!
Eating Metal – Went here on a whim one day and will not be going back. Oddly enough, there's no tofu anywhere on the menu, or any vegetarian options for that matter. They were willing to make me a vegetable dish though. My boyfriend ordered a shrimp dish, but when it came out, was some other chicken dish. The food was mediocre at best. We also witnessed someone come in for a pickup and get apologized to for having accidently sent that order away with someone else. So, she had to wait around for them to remake her order.
The most heinous thing was when I literally had two bites of food left on my plate and noticed something odd in my mouth. There was a piece of metal from a dishwashing scrubbie. Gross. They gave us our meals for free because of it, though. I still get nauseous thinking about it.
Our server, very polite and soft spoken in the front of the house could be heard yelling at the cook when he was back in the kitchen (for said instances), then come out and be shy and soft spoken again. Entertaining.
THE BEST – PG has the best Chinese food in MN. My son and I have been going there for 25 years now. The Kung Pao Chicken is my fav and always taste the same for 25 years (which says a lot about quality, etc.). Everything I have tried there is excellent. I used to live across the street when my son was little and did take out at least once a week and every pay day we would go there and eat in. Maria is great and made my son feel all grown up with bringing him tea. I have been taking friends there for years and they always LOVE it and are now regulars.
After writing this I am hungry for PG so dinner tonight will be at Princess Garden. Thank God I live close!
PG sets the bar for great chinese food – Maria and her family have served great chinese food for years. We have been enjoying the finest chinese food for the past three decades. My sister has traveled the world and said PG is still the best. I myself now live in Miami but still stop in for their mu shoo pork each of the last 17 yrs I've come home.
Its a shame Maria has sold the business. I hope the new managment carrys the torch.
A Hidden Gem – I love pretty much all of the food I have ever ordered from Princess Garden. My husband and I go when ever we are in the area, even if we just order something to go. It does taste so much better when I get to sit and eat but I don't always have the time. It is a lovely small place with plenty of tea and wonderful food. I do wish they were in a little bit nicer area. I don't always feel comfortable walking around the area with the not so nice strip club at the end of this strip mall.
Wonderful Chinese food – While the area is not great, the food is delicious. The service is great! We have enjoyed this restaurant for many years and it remains an all time favorite. The food and service is always excellent. Try it - you will like it.
Excellent Food! – My family started going to Princess Garden when I was seven (I am 37) now. The food has always been wonderful. A family favorite is the princess garden shrimp - very tangy! Also the mongollian beef and chicken and peapods are great for both kids and adults. My kids love to go and have "tea" they feel very grown up. The area has gone down hill over the years... the Lamplighter is in the same strip mall, and next door is a coin laundry. Well worth the effort though, if you want the "real" thing!
The Best Un-Noticed Peking Cuisine – If you enjoy the Peking cuisine, this is the restaurant to visit. The best dishes are Kung Pao Chicken and Peking Duck. Ordering the duck a day ahead ensures the best quality.
The prices are very reasonable and the service is good. The location is not ideal.
This restaurant is family operated and the owner is also the chef. While cooks in most Chinese restaurants in Twin Cities are Southeastern Asian refugees, the chef came from famous Princess Garden Restaurant in Hong Kong. The authenticity of the foods served here can be assured. The meat dishes here are always tender, juicy and delicious.
This restaurant has been operated in the city since the late 70's. I have been visiting this place for over 25 years and never had a disappointing meal.
