There should just be a sign outside the building that says "no kids allowed" because that's obviously how they feel. The restaurant owners have very skewed expectations on families and children should behave. What a shame, this was a gem of a store and based on other people's experiences, I will not return.
Expensive.. Food was okay, but definitely not worth the price. After hearing how they treat their customers with families though, we will not be returning. Our family likes to support local businesses that have all around great business tactics.
Lunch is good. The standard stuff is all good but I like try the lunch specials. I was there on Thursday and they had a turkey wrap with chutney which was great. There is always some laughter and conversation which makes it fun.
Love this place! (and so do my kids!!!). Never had a bad experience at this place. I've been here many times since they opened both with co-workers on my lunch hour and on Saturday with my children. The owners have been very nice to me, my co-workers and my family each time. The food is really good and they have a bunch of local food, including local honey that has helped my daughter tremendously with her allergies. I have, and will continue, to recommend Marianne's to my family, friends, and co-workers!!
Great Family Owned Restaurant. The family that owns and works at this restaurant is super nice and the food is great. I have also had their honey at a farmers market and it was great. If you are looking for somewhere independent in Shoreview to go get lunch, check this place out.
Nothing but nice. I've been to Marianne's a number of times, many times with my family. The owners have been nothing but nice, even gave my kids some free cookies the last time we went. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my family again or tell my friends with kids what a good place it is. People should definitely give this place a chance before forming an opinion. Try the soups, they're all homemade and better than anything else I've found in Shoreview.
Please Be Aware.... This is not Family Friendly dining, as it falsely states in the description.
Unbelievably Rude Owners.
If you make it to Marianne's.... be sure to order cleaning supplies with your food as they expect you to scrub your table, vacuum, and sweep when you are done. If you don't, the employees will follow you out to the parking lot and call you "rude" and ask that you "never return again."
I had lunch at this little sandwich shop today and picked up after my family as I do in any restaurant. All that was left were some chips and lettuce on the ground, and some mayo fingerprints on the table from where the toddler had eaten.
We love local business and I called to verify that the owner agreed with the stance of her employee. Not only did she agree, but she also dug the hole even deeper by telling me out how out control my children were and several other rude comments.
Was there a little bit of mess? Yes, absolutely. But nothing out of the ordinary from a dining experience with toddlers and we cleaned up the bulk of it. The only thing we could have done further was get down on our hands and knees while holding our babies... and I don't know about you... but honestly no where else has expected me to clean up that much after a meal.
When running a business, especially in these hard economic times, owners should not go chasing customers out of the store over a few small messes. Unbelievable! I've regrettably spent a large amount of money at this establishment in the last few months, I have never been treated so horribly in my entire life. They really should take a look at their customer service skills and rethink their inks about interacting with customers at all.
AWFUL AWFUL customer service. I have never in my life received such awful service in my life. A friend and I brought our 4 children there for lunch today. While there, our children were well behaved and we were nice and considerate to the owners. My daughter spilled her water and we cleaned it up ourselves. We threw away our garbage, put away the highchair and left. One of the co-owners literally CHASED US OUT of the restaurant, YELLING at us that we were "incredibly rude" for not cleaning up our mess and told us to "never come back". I was beyond astonished. There was some bits of food left on the table and chairs (4 kids will do that shockingly enough) but other then that and a dirty table (as happens when children eat) we cleaned up all of our garbage. Further, when they were called to complain, they continued to be rude and yell at my girlfriend for everything!! No one should go to this if you expect to be treated well. I am astonished at the behavior of these people and expect it won't be long before they go out of business if this is how they treat their customers!
Health-conscious fast-food, including Italian hoagies and salads, keeps sub lovers satisfied..
In Short
Founded in 1964 in Hoboken, New Jersey, this sandwich joint has grown into a nationwide restaurant chain. The generously sized subs are modeled on the balloon-like shape of a blimp, which also inspired this chain's name. Famed for its Italian bread and sliced meats, the restaurant offers signature sandwiches, including the Durango Roast Beef, the Baja Turkey and Cheese and the Tuscan Ham and Swiss. Look for grilled panini, wraps, soups and a special kid-sized sub.
