Worst Happy Hour Ever!. Do not go here for happy hour. Both times I have gone for happy hour I have been shocked by the bill. The early happy hour has strange restrictions on food, and the late night happy hour only includes a few beers. Only go to this restaurant if you are prepared to pay stadium prices for beer. My beers ended up costing more than I would pay at Target Field. (More than 7 bucks for a beer.) Also, service was very poor and slow. My bill had to be amended 4 times before it was correct, a process which took over 30 minutes.
Fantastic family dinner!.
As a family, we go to Champps very often. We always ask for the same waitress so we have gotten to know her very well. Although there have been times when we got a new waiter and he/she was not great.
Pros: Expansive menu, large portions, great service (for the most part), kids eat free night.
Cons: Not many, except the few inexperienced and slow waiters.
Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game..
In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.
Poor customer service. The bartenders are more interested in washing glasses then waiting on you. I've had to flag them down. When I finally gave my order, I was rudely told they only make burgers well done - which is ridiculous since medium is plenty safe. I've spoke with their managers a couple of times and they are extremely condenscending. One chased my friend out to the parking lot with some food she said she didn't want as it had a hair in it. This place has gone Downhill fast! I'd pick Jakes over this any day.
Average at best. Champps has average food and drinks but large portions. If you order a burger they don't have sliced pickles, instead they serve a pickle spear. When I commented that I wanted the pickle on my burger the waitress told me I could slice it up. Why not ask me to wash the lettuce and slice tomatoes and onions too? If I have to slice up toppings for my burger, I'll just eat at home where I can get what I want. Unimpressive food and service.
