Tips for Bob Ryan Chevrolet Cadillac

DO NOT purchase a car here! This dealership is a joke! A few months ago I contacted the dealership to inquire about a car I found online. I spoke with a salesmen who told me the car was still for sale on their lot so, I arranged a visit a few days later to go look at it. Buffalo, MN is an approx. a 2 hour drive from my house so, I was pretty certain I was going to make a purchase upon seeing the vehicle if everything looked good. When I arrived for my scheduled visit, the salesmen told me that for some reason he could not find the vehicle in the lot! He said that it "appeared" to be on their inventory, but for some reason it wasn't there now. He had no legitimate explanation as to where the car vanished to. "Maybe one of our employees took it home... or lent it out as a rental?" After driving 2 hrs. I was too angry to care. But here's the kicker: The salesmen then tried selling me on another car that was the same model, but more expensive than the one I found online ( how convenient)... but he would "throw in" a FREE tank of gas to make up for my trouble. If this doesn't scream SHADY I don't know what does! I left angry and disappointed. I ended up sharing my eventful story with a relative a short while later. To my astonishment, she had the SAME exact experience I explained.... inquired about a vehicle via the internet and scheduled a visit, only to show up and be told the same exact line... "We can't find the vehicle on our lot!"... (But hey, you're still in luck! We have the same make & model, it's just a "tiny bit" more expensive!) Watch out for this place and their vanishing car tricks! What a bunch of BS!

I first contacted Ryan Chevrolet via the internet concerning a vehicle purchase, specifically a 2012 Silverado 3500HD. I was contacted by Jeff Nelson. He wanted to know just what I was looking for in the truck. He searched the 5 state area and came up with just what I was looking for. The next day when I went to Ryan's I was greeted by John Fuller. I asked for Jeff and was told that it was his day off. John called him but he was out of town and told John to help me. John and I sat down and hammered out the details of the deal and I left the owner of a new Silverado. It was Fri. and the truck was at another dealership so I didn't expect it until Mon. Surprise, Sat morning I got a call the the truck was now at Ryan's and I could pick it up.

Kudos to Jeff for his speedy respose to my inquery and finding the truck and to John for his time and patience with me. Both very knowledgeable and professional men. Also to the finance man, Greg, I think name is, for finding me a great finance rate and payment scheule.

Would I go back to Ryan's or recommend them? Yes.

Bob Ryan scammed my elderly mother. In 2009, Bob Ryan sold my elderly senior citizen mother a 2008 Chevy Trailblazer LS with 7,800 miles that was a lease return. I told my mother ONLY buy a Bumper to Bumper GM Factory Extended Warranty also known as a GMPP GENERAL MOTORS PROTECTION PLAN. Any vehicle still under the factory warranty for miles/years (36mo./36,000mi) can still buy you a bumper to bumper GM FACTORY extended warranty. They suckered my mom into buying a third party "VehicleOne" plan from some company called Universal Warranty. They suckered her into paying $1,985.00 for 75,000 miles. A TOTAL RIP OFF!!! These third party protection plans rarely pay a thing when you read the fine details. NASCAR sponsor US Fidelis warranty plans have over 2,000 registered Better Business Bureau complaints about this and many more online. That is why you buy the factory's plan!!! Ryan Chev knew this! Bob Ryan makes 80% pure profit off that 3rd party warranty sale. I just found about it today when my younger brother brought it in for a power window motor failure. Village Chev in Wayzata could not find the extended factory warranty in GM's database. I had to dig through all of my Mom's papers to find this thing. Seriously, these guys are crooks. Bob Ryan and his crooks took advantage of my elderly mother. Why would Bob Ryan only offer a third party warranty plan when YOU ARE A GM DEALER and should be offering GM extended warranties?

I wish this person would identify themselves so we could help in resolving this issue they have. Fact #1 Vehicle One and Universal Warranty are a General Motors company! Suckering or ripping off people? nothing could be further from the truth as all customers are presented a menu with optional financial products and sign off on the menu whether they buy products or not. Crooks? not even close as we've been family owned and operated in the small town of Buffalo since 1976

My like new Impala. What a great experience at Ryan Chevy. Found a vehicle on their web site that i was interested in, called them and talked to Dermott about why the price was $2000 less then like cars. Dermott then explained to me that it was a lemon law buy back unit with a stamped title. I then went back to thier web site and did a complimentary Auto Check on the Impala and found what my sales person said was true. the next day i set up an appointment with Dermott, went in and purchased my like new Impala. I have now been driving my car for 3 touble free weeks. Thank you staff at Ryan's

Great service. I took my 2003 Suburban to their service department as I had heard good things about Ryan's service. I had a full 100k service done and I felt that I received good advice, great value and quality workmanship. My service advisor, Tom, took care of me very well and explained all the things I should do to keep the vehicle in top condition. That is important to me as I cannot afford a new one in this economy. I received a call after a few days to check up on me too!

Beware of Bob Ryan Chevrolet Service Department. While buying a car was a breeze at Bob Ryan Chev in Buffalo, the experience after has been a NIGHTMARE. After taking my car to be serviced in their shop, the technician forgot to plug in the cooling fan. Needless to say, I drove around all winter just fine, but the first hot day in MN, my car overheated in rush hour traffic. Smoke billowed everywhere. The service department offered a free oil change, however, that does not make up for the damage that it caused. My husband lost 3 hours of work, we missed out on an important event, and my car got hail damage, as it was stuck on the side of the road, overheating. I will never ever buy from Ryan Chev, or recommend their service department. 2 Thumbs down.

Great Deal. Wow, after reading the reviews on so called Lemons, I went in somewhat prepared to battle and catch them at something. My actual experience was very good, straight forward, and fair. I found the truck I wanted online, and my salesperson told me on the initial phone call that it was a lemon law buy back, and it was from California.

When I showed up to look at the vehicle, my salesperson explained the lemon law process and the laws in California turned out to be borderline bizzar. My truck was bought back by GM because parts (the air conditioning compressor) was on back order. Somewhat aprehensive, I did some of my own research on buy backs and found everything the dealer told me to be true. When I did the paperwork, the business manager (Greg I think) explained everything in detail, and I did get copies of everything.

As for value, I had been looking for a truck like this for some time, and the one I bought was several thousand dollars less than others in the local and expanded market area. Thanks Ryan Chev and staff for a great deal!

As keeper of paper work quality control I know for a fact that this Anonymous person signed all the State and federal paper work involving thier transaction as we have zero open buy back issues with any customer. people who purchase General Motor "buy backs" save thousands of $$$$ over non-buy backs. Visit Ryanautomall on the web to explore for yourself.

Beware of Ryan Chevrolet in Buffalo, MN. I posted this to my Facebook page in September, 2009; I do not want this to happen to anybody else.

Beware of Ryan Chevrolet in Buffalo, MN as most of their inventory is manufacturer buy-backs which mean LEMONS! Since California has strict "Lemon Laws" most of the cars are purchased from there. The sales people are smooth and mention nothing verbally about the "vehicle buy-back or lemon law" in their sales pitch. When signing papers they do not go over them and just slide them in front of you....even calling incomplete and undated forms legal!

Very interesting and deceptive how I NEVER received copies of the forms mentioning "Lemon" until I called and asked what the hell was going on (after I received the title). Then magically I received them via fax; most likely these forms were purposely left out of those I took home (I might have been able to read them more carefully and then returned the vehicle the next day). They figured I wouldn't notice until the title came (2 months later) and had "Lemon Law Vehicle" stamped on it. Tell me that isn’t suspicious; the only two forms indicating "lemon" weren't given to me until requested! One of the forms I received via fax was dated by someone else (not my handwriting). Since I didn't have original copies of these forms...my signature was probably forged too.

Since Ryan Chevrolet is doing nothing about their shady business tactics; perhaps GM can buy it back from me too; I will be bringing it in for "every" little thing I find. It's in the shop today for air conditioner problems (I've had it for 2 months) and most likely it is the same issue the previous owner had.

The general manager told me today the company sells 30-40 vehicle buy-back "lemons" each month....this seems interesting considering I found a link to their website an hour ago which said "Avoid getting a lemon for your next used car". WHAT????!!!!! Does this make sense? Which story is it? Are you selling lemons yet trying to get business by telling others not to buy them?? What does that tell you? Tells me they are a bunch of flipping crooks!

Do not sign a contract before reading it very carefully and understanding all its provisions (when they try rushing you through papers they are shoving underneath your pen........STOP!). If a clause concerns you, ask to have it explained (IN PLAIN ENGLISH), or if necessary, changed!

I will never let a company sneak their shady business tactics past me again! This might end up being a very expensive lesson for me, hopefully I can save someone else from going through the same thing!

Funny how Jenny writes a comment like this. At time of purchase she knew quite well that she was buying a General Motors reconditioned vehicle, she was exited about it as she was saving thousands of dollars over a non "lemon law" vehicle. Jenny signed MN. and Fed. non-conformity paper work at time of delivery, we did not force her to sign or buy anything . If you want to save thousands of dollars on your next purchase visit ryanautomall or call 1 800 bob ryan.
