no more happy hour...unless you like the beer of the month – my co-workers and i used to frequent champps for happy hour. then we went there and found out that corporate and basically taken away happy hour. we contacted corporate and they assured us that what we were told about the happy hour prices was not true, so we went back only to find out that corporate had lied to us and that champps was giving us the prices directed to them by corporate. they have basically gotten rid of happy hour (and now waffle fries too) and in doing so have lost the business of the 4 of us as well as the people we tell not to go there for happy hour
Sports restaurant-bar draws fans who love the food as much as the game. – In Short
Using their original burgers-and-beer joint in St. Paul, Minn., as a base modl, this sports-themed chain is now a popular hangout for all ages nationwide. The memorabilia-loaded space is crowded with families and friends chatting over chili cheeseburgers, bourbon-glazed pork chops and large orders of soups and salads. On major game nights, the shiny wooden bar area is packed with small groups eyeing the monitors above while cheering or grumbling into their pints and fries.
No more Happy Hour or Corporate stupidity! – My friends and I have been going to Champp's for Happy Hour regularly since it opened 9 years ago. For the first few years it was the place to be in EP. The last few years it has become just another place to go with an occasional band, bringing in a few new faces. Now they have done away with Happy Hour pricing. I guess for my friends, (18-20 of us), no good deed goes unpunished. It was a corporate decision so Eden Prairie, Richfield and Ridgedale are the only corporate Champp's in the US to abolish Happy Hour. Whoever this genius is hasn't seen the current state of our economy or he would have realized that he should have taken the prices south, not north.
Fortunately, there are many other great bars with happy hours nearby. I feel bad for the staff at those three locations, who will either quit because of lower tips or get fired for poor revenue compared to last year's sales. Way to go, Corporate Guy, I only wish it was your job on the line for this uninformed decision. The regulars, the bartenders, the wait staff and management don't deserve this. Thanks for breaking up the band, Yoko!
how does this work, citysearch? – how does a place which has 4 out of six reviews 2 or 3 stars still average 4 1/2 stars on citysearch?? i am becoming more and more convinced that citysearch is merely an advertising vehicle... where do you go to find out the real story on the best places in the cities?
Bad taste in my mouth – What a beautiful atmosphere...! Floor to ceiling windows, exceptional patio area, even the parking was great- but shouldn't the service reflect a positive image too??? After being Sat, Aylicia our server came over and greeted us about 10 minutes later. No greeting, no smile, no class. I asked for a water "no ice" she brings me ice water (had wisdom teeth pulled and I told her that). My date asks for a Vodka Collins, that tasted more like fermented sweet and sour then it did alcohol. No apology, not even comped off our tab, our server clearly knew that so far we had nothing but "bad tastes in our mouths". She blames the service on her bartender. My hamburger came with fries and 1 burnt chicken finger. Kudos on the burger, at least they did something right. I didn't know fries came with the chicken fingers now...? I understand accidents happen, but EXPEDITE the food before you bring it out to your customers! I love Champps, I am a regular at 3 of the other locations in the Twin Cities, I won't be a regular here. I can go anywhere for a good burger- heck, even Culvers. But I choose Champps for the service, selection and because it's a cut above the rest. Not Eden Prairie though, with a burger you get a side of attitude and the blamegame. BTW- Brandon the bartender gave me a hard time when I went to him for a martini, and told him about the poor service and gross cocktail, he blames it on me and my date saying that we are just too picky!!! My martini tasted great, but it was also almost $10.00- I think I will stick to my original hang out spots. Thanks Eden Priarie Champps for leaving a bad taste in my mouth. (i thought you were better than that).
overpriced, overblown – Went on 4th of July and sat on the beautiful patio. Very nicely done. Food, on the other hand, was less than impressive. They had a special summer menu, with a feature Kung Pao chicken, which I normally love. While the servings were large, the taste was bland. For $15 you'd think it would be decent. I've had better takeout for a third the price. My guest ordered a nice glass of wine - twice - and they charged us $8.99 the first time, and $9.99 the second time, for the same stuff. Another friend ordered the steak medium and it was well-done. You shouldn't expect a great steak at Champps, but at least it could be prepared to your order. It's things like that that irk me. The scenery on the patio was great, but the food and the prices were less than impressive. Stick with beer and burgers, and you'll be happy.
This place has class! – I've been to several Champps before but this one takes the cake. It's an awesome atmosphere with lots of big screen tvs to watch the game on, the environment is terrific and the food is good too! I'd travel a few miles to make it there to see some games.
Highly recommended. Very classy!!
Snobby – Sometimes there is good eyecandy on Thursdays - but in the end it's a restaurant full of snobby, stuck up people. Now with Redstone's opening across the street - things are even worse. I guess that is what can be expected for Eden Prairie though. If you enjoy watching bottom-feeders definately go here.
