Editorial Review for Snuffy's Malt Shop--Minnetonka – by Annamarie Cumpston
In Short
At this St. Paul location, a 1/3-pound Snuffy Burger with a hunk of iceberg lettuce and tomato, crisp bacon and melted Swiss cheese is as heavenly for kids oblivious to fat grams as it is for parents who know better but indulge anyway. The food--burgers, fries and malts--is vintage nostalgia. A half-order of french fries arrives hot and not overly greasy. Never leave without ordering an extra-thick, real ice-cream malt.

We visited snuffy's with my mother and two daughters. We were greeted by a grouchy host that took the "wait to be seated sign" and asked my mother to move so he could put it in front of her. My mother and I giggled, and my mom said "oh, I must have been in the way"...mind you we were the only people in the waiting area. He told us to walk down and seat ourselves, okay...that's fine. We placed our order, and the food arrived quickly. The onion rings were awesome, but my order and my mothers order were not correct. They brought us grilled cheeses when we ordered cheesburgers. I told the waitress this was not what we ordered, she said "yes you did!" and she walked away. I took the plates up to the counter and asked to have our orders done as I didn't want to eat incorrect order. I have never done this before. She laughed at me, and told me there was a miscommunication. I asked what ever happened to the costumer always being right, she continuted to laugh at me. I told them I had never been treated like this in a restaurant. It was horrible. The changed our orders and the cheeseburgers were good. We never recieved drinks. Kids did, and thats all i cared about at that point. No water and cheesburger. It was the single worst dining experience. At least its cheap, so I guess with mcdonalds prices, what do you expect? Cute place, hopefully they were having a really bad day (as our waitress told us later and did apologize).
Pros: ambience and onion rings
Cons: service was insulting

Great hamburgers. A "half order" of fries is enough for two. The malts are wonderful, as is the chicken soup. Stay away from the "famous" chile.
Pros: Burgers
