A few friends and I stopped by for drinks and dinner. We had a great time. I thought the food was good. I never noticed the service, which is what you want. They brought the food on time, no problems and got out of our way :)
Not worth it

I went here with a few of my extended family members. There we 8 of us so we called ahead to make sure we didn't need a reservation. We didn't.
So we show up and the place is packed. They said a 25 minute wait but it was only about 10 or 15 which was nice.
We get seated at 2 tables put together that were not really meant for 8 people, it was still dirty and wet. We ended up moving to a nearby table because it looked bigger. That was also wet and dirty.
I'm not sure what everyone else but I ordered a Captain Chicken WITHOUT ranch dressing and an order of Mozzarella Sticks for the table.
The Mozzarella Sticks come out almost 25 minutes later. Then the food comes about 45 minutes after that. They get my order wrong, they put ranch dressing on it like I specifically told them not to. I was so hungry at that point that I wasn't willing to wait another 70 minutes for another sandwich so I sucked it up and ate it.
Despite the fact that I hate ranch dressing it was still OK. If it was OK with something I don't like on it, it should be twice as good if you drop that item.
2 tips if you choose to come here:
1. Do NOT come here with more than 3 people, otherwise they will mess up your order.
2. If you come here, be prepared to have a 2 to 3 hour lunch/dinner.

My husband and I took friends from out of town out to eat for one of their birthdays. We got there at 5:30 but were not even approached by a hostess until close to 6. We then proceeded to be sat at a filthy table, and ordered immediately. Our appetizers never came, our drinks came 45 mins later and our food came almost two hours later (we all ordered burgers and fries). When the food came, my husband didn't even get his french fries and I had to wait another 15 mins for my food. When we asked to speak to a manager, we actually had to go to the bar to speak to one because he refused to come to our table. At that time he refused to apologize and we listened to him scream at his server (who had too many tables and really did an amazing job given the circumstances). The people next to us were also charged $80 for two drinks and food they never received. I've never written a review before but I had to get the word out about what a terrible place this has become. Completely ruined our night. (Oh, the bill came in seconds)
- Pros: After they forget to serve you, your bill will come fast.
- Cons: terrible service, management, don't expect to eat.

Great people - great views - new owners

My wife and I have been going to Captain Jacks on and off for years. I understand the criticism of the past, but there are now new owners and they have done a great job of turning the place around. One thing I enjoy is the fact that Captain Jacks is always hosting great activites for people. Whether it is the ice golf, the snow softball, Oak on the Water, the weekly Texas Hold'em tournaments, etc. there are always fun things to do in a great atmoshpere and with good people. If it has been a while since you have been there, try it again either in the winter or the summer.
