happy hour!! yes please. very hip, popular happy hour bar! they defiantly fill up fast during their happy hour from 9 - close! service is usually decent , but if you are dressed to not impress, don't expect the top service, they seem to walk right past you as if you don't belong there (we learned out lesson that day! )
great brunch.
I had the opportunity to try this place for a Sunday Brunch. We were able to sit outside on a perfect late summer day. The view was nice, the service was good without being in your face. The brunch options were nice and there was enough that my entire party was able to enjoy what they ate.
Cons - desserts that were dry, the cakes were apparently home made and they were the best and went fast. Avoid the little cupcake style desserts.
The fruit plate. The fruit was good and fresh the problems was that for people like me with fruit allergies the mixing of some fruit and the same use of utensils I was unable to enjoy any fruit. (I realize that this is more of a personal issue but could easily be solved by placing fruit in separate bowls).
I would recommend this place to anyone for a nice reasonably priced breakfast. Go on a nice day and sit outside (when it's warm of course).
Great food. No need for the salt and pepper shakers at this restaurant as the food is seasoned perfectly, the fish & chips are excellent. The Jefferson parish chicken is served on a bed of pork tasso hash which is to die for. Lot's of places have some cajun entrees on there menus but when you get them they are far from cajun, not here, you get what you order. I've brought both of my sons who are ages 10 and 1 and it is good for children as well. My only complaint is that the wait staff needs to be a more familiar with the menu, but that won't stop me from dining here in the future. Overall Excellent.
NEW Chef and Menu. Sunsets has a new chef and new menu worth checking out. The new chef is David Robinson, who has appeared on local television and is a veteran chef of some of the twin cities top restaurants. Patrons like his food so much, they follow him from establishment to establishment. New additions to the menu include Harvest Farfalle, Asian Burger, and one of the best appetizers I've had in a restaurant in a long time is the lamb lollies... YUM!!! Go check it out - he's ever making changes to the menu. so expect more surprises, including an awesome New Years' Eve menu. (PS - Plan to be at Sunsets next Thanksgiving for the feast - Oh my goodness, was it delicious)!!
Beautiful View. The great view of the lake makes this a wonderful spot for dates or more casual dining. The walleye is excellent, and the service is just right. Overall a charming expereince.
Large portions of American classics are served in a laid-back atmosphere on a Wayzata shore..
In Short
Easy-chic Western suburbanites are either lounging on the outdoor patio or sharing a meal with their dates next to the big windows inside. The decor is rich, dark wood; sleek yet comfortable. Service is helpful but not overbearing. The kitchen produces fine-tuned American fare every day, but is known for its Sunday brunch of breakfast and lunch classics like made-to-order omelets and waffles, roast beef with scalloped potatoes and tortellini in cream sauce.
Good menu.
I enjoyed dinning here. They have a diverse menu with a seafood emphasis. Nice floor plan and good bar area. We loved the location and even liked when a train rolled by (which is 15 feet away from the restaurant).
The only negative was their wait staff. They seemed like high school kids with little training.
Mmmmm soup!. If not for any other reason, go here for their Chicken Wild Rice Soup! It is the best ever! Definitely worth the trip to try it!
What a waste of real estate. This is one of those places that I just can't understand why it is so popular. Yes, it's a great location, but everything else about this place is below average. The menu is safe and tries too hard to please everyone. I've been here twice, both against my will. The first time, I ordered a salad which was terribly over-dressed with a sickeningly sweet strawberry dressing. My girlfriend's roast chicken came out so overdone we had to send it back. The second time, I ordered a mushroom pasta. The pasta was limp and overcooked and the whole dish was dry. It had clearly spent some serious time under a heat lamp. Service is OK, but not stellar. This restaurant is clearly not trying to cater to people who really enjoy food. If you are a middle aged suburbanite with more money than taste, than this is the place for you.
Avg MN restaurant but not a daring menu.. Navigating Wayzata can be confusing, but parking was easy. Seating was immediate (prior reservation), and the view across the water great. While service was prompt and attentive, I found the atmosphere loud and crowded despite the "upscale" decor and location. The loud bar with TV's right next to the seating/eating area detracted quite a bit. I found the menu choices merely average, especially considering price. OK wine list. I ordered the walleye while my friend ordered salmon. Both fish were cooked well but without any memorable taste to them. In all, an "average" MN restaurant trying, but failing, to scale up.
