My favorite gay bar, great drinks, great dancing, GREAT DRAG!. So many of my gay friends absolutely hate the 90's. I've never understood that. I have been going their since I was 18 (now 25), and I have never had a bad experience. Yes, it is geared a bit towards the straighties...but so what. The drinks are STRONG, I've found plenty of gay guys to hook up with over the years.........:), and the drag show is one of the best anywhere. I asbolutely adore this place, and I don't care if it's considered "uncool" to be gay and like it.
The mega-mall of Twin Cities' gay clubs, complete with gum-smacking girls and plenty of room to cruise..
In Short
This place has it all: drag shows, leather, three dance floors, two restaurants, seven bars, male strippers and straight chicks from the suburbs. The drinks are like the bouncers: big and strong. There are daily drink and meal specials, including all-you-can eat chicken dinners, two-for-one drinks and a soul food weekend brunch. The dance floor is low-key on weekdays, but a mix of gays and straights pack the place on weekends.
Gay, straight... who cares if you're having fun?. I'm straight as an arrow and the 90's is one of my favorite bars, as well as the Saloon. I only go when they're playing dance music, but on those nights I think it's great. It's the perfect middle spot between a boring bar and a overly-loud, obnoxious club. I don't mind getting flirted with occasionally. I enjoy people, whatever their orientation. If someone got too forward I'd politely inform them that I was straight, but it's usually not an issue. I'm not going to hook-up, I'm going to get drunk, enjoy the company of new people, and dance my a** off.
This place is a dump!. For all the money this place brings in, they don't put one cent back into it. The rumor around town has been that the city will be condemning this block in the near future. It can't come too soon.
first timer. I just went there last night (Sunday night) and thought the place was awesome. I didn't do much, I didn't drink (don't know why) but I watched the Drag Show which was AWESOME. Damn they have talent hehe. It was great can't wait to go again!
All The Right Moves. The 90's does tend to be over-crowded with Str8 people, but the drag queens ROCK @ making fun of them, so it is all good. It is not the best place to go if you are "looking" for love, but if you are going just to hang up & have fun this is the place to be. My partner & I go there every chance we get & the 90's drag queens are the hottest in the upper mid-west. And remember one 90's drink equals three any where else.
Wrongo!!. Selecting the Gay 90's as the best Gay Bar shows how much you DO NOT KNOW about gay bars in the Twin Cities. This selection is just wrong... The Gay 90's is now geared for straight people... who like to watch transvestites and drag queens. Please, this selection is ridiculous!
THE BEST OF THE BEST. bY THE FAR THE MOST ENERGETIC BAR/DANCE CLUB IN THE TWIN CITIES, EVERTIME I GO THE BOUNCERS AND THE TENDERS ARE EXTREMLY NICE TO ME AND ALL MY GUESTS THANK YOU. YOU GUYS AND KEEP IT UP! ANDREW=)
"The Straight 90's". The title "Gay 90's" gives false pretense to what it actually is. More straight people frequent here than gay. The drag shows are good but drinks are too strong. I appreciate the generosity, but I'll ask for a shot if I want one. As usual, this "gay" bar focuses on gay men by having male dancers on the bar top quite often. The techno music on the bottom level is pretty good most of the time. Don't appear drunk though. My friend was thrown out in sub-zero temp. for "acting drunk" after having two drinks and we had to leave early.
"Gay" Bar?.
the last time i went to the 90'S i just felt like i was cattle. Too many pretentious jerk's that think they are better than you, but they dont even have enough to buy ther own drink! And the lay out was bad I tried to watch the show in the le femme lounge and i could not even see the performers
(I even had a "good" seat)
