Who knew one could get whipped up over a hot dog stand? Not me, till I stumbled on this downtown gem a few years ago. I wondered how this tiny, street level shop could have the lunch rush crowd (everyone from "suits" to street sweepers) lined up 20 deep. The answer(s): 1) It's fast. The owner/operator is the hardest workin' man in food service, tongs flying about like a Japanese Teppanyaki Master Chef; 2) The aforementioned owner/operator knows his regulars, can often anticipate orders, and does it all with a smile; 3) You can't beat the value. For example, one daily special is as follows: Two chili-dogs piled with whatever you want plus a delicious malt (best this side of Wisconsin) for $5.90. WOW! Needless to say, I'm a fan. Did I mention the dogs are GREAT?! If you happen to be downtown Minneapolis during lunch, check this place out!
Pros: Excellent Value, Hot Dogs, Tasty Malts
