Thomas Joseph is not your mall jewler. It is a small family run, word of mouth for advertising, business.

They are a top quality jewelry retailer and designer. They have unique designs, and quality diamonds at way less than appraisal. They also carry high end watches.

They are located in an office building downtown minneapolis but do not require an appointment for shopping.

PROS: prices, quality, friendly family owned

Great experience buying an engagement ring. They sat me down in a diamond lab and taught me enough about diamonds so I could choose the size/quality diamond that I wanted.

There were a lot of styles to choose from for the ring. I got a nicer ring than I thought I'd be able to afford and my fiance' loved it.

This place is amazing. Whenever I go I am greeted with a smile and they are 100% focused on me, the customer. They are not pushy and are very patient. Also, I really like that they personalize the experience. They keep a record of things I like so that my husband can have a little 'assistance' in picking out a special gift in the future. We have been going here for years and I'm always so please with the service and quality of jewlery and selection.

I received TWO calls from Thomas Joseph Jewelers, asking me to return their call about repair work. The two calls were long apart. I ignored the first cal,l as I of course had not been to a jeweler in ages. I returned the second cal,l to find they were reminding me to pick up the ring they had repaired for me. I said I did not recall any ring being repaired...when was it? They replied, 12-15 years ago! I left a ring, spur of the moment while shopping, to have a stone put in and a prong fixed. I had two rings almost identical, so I never thought of it again. They still had the ring and were still trying to find me to reunite me with my ring. Best part....price was still the quote for 15 years ago. Now that is service!

This was the second place that my fiance and I went when we were engagement ring shopping. The first was the Helzberg diamonds in a mall. Seeing as we were planning on using my grandmothers ring for the stones, we were uncomfortable that Helzberg was going to have to send the ring offsite to put my center stone into the ring we liked. We then tried Thomas Joseph and Sons Inc. We were using the stones from my grandmothers ring but wanted to have it set in a more attractive setting (the original was quite horrible). Michael N (the older one, I think) was very helpful. We did not have the stones with us the first time we went but he was able to help us look at ring styles that contained the stones that I already had. He never pressured us to buy newer stones but rather emphasized that it makes a lot more sense to use stones that we already owned. He spent a lot of time with my fiance explaining why he was grading the diamonds they way he was. He also used he metal from the original ring to make the new ring, which saved us money. He set the center stone so that you cannot see the chip in the diamond at all. The ring turned out GORGEOUS! We are both so happy with our experience here that we plan on going back for our wedding bands. I highly recommend Thomas and Son for all your jewelry needs.

TJS was referred to me by two discerning jewelry fans (women) who have worked with Mike Jr. before. If he can make those two happy, he can make ANYONE happy and I put him to the test. I walked into multiple jewelry stores locally where I live (San Francisco) and was either looked down on for wearing shorts and flip flops or was pushed on harder than at a used car dealership.

MJ and I first spoke on the phone and he listened to the kind of ring I wanted to buy for my girlfriend......then he told me that I should absolutely go shop around and spend some time in diff stores to see the diff types of cuts. He then gave me the best advice - look really hard at the current jewelry my girlfriend has and then look at what I was thinking about - does that match up? If yes, then you are good to go, if not, match it up to her tastes.

MJ spent a lot of time w/ me over phone and on the web and I just felt SO much more comfortable talking things through and purchasing through him and his company. I chose to NOT buy from a local resource where I could simply walk in, pick it out, cut a check, walk home w/ the ring - I chose to do this over phone and Internet with him b/c he never tried to push - just more of a consultant showing me my diff options through the whole process.

This was one of my biggest purchases of my life (not necessarily from a $ standpoint, but from a monumental moment standpoint) and he made it as easy as possible. Seriously, the hardest part of this was that I opted to send him a check via Post Office (which took FOREVER) and it ended up too late, so I had to send an alternate check via FedEx (what was I thinking? why send via USPS??).

I would HIGHLY recommend working with MJ or any of is staff!! they are professional and courteous and so knowledgeable! I will DEFINITELY keep purchasing and servicing through him.
