What People Are Saying About Davanni's Pizza & Hot Hoagies

In Short – The numerous locations are clean but not fussy. You can get in and out fast, but it's alright to linger. Order at the walk-up counter, grab your pebbled plastic pop glass and head for a table to wait for your name to be called. Hand-tossed, thin-crust and deep-dish pizzas with rich tomato sauces feature traditional toppings. A variety of hoagies utilize pizza ingredients in creative ways (pepperoni in the club, peppers and olives in the veggie).
Editor's Tips
- The Extras:
- Try the addictive garlic-cheese bread, made with the hoagie buns and a thick carpet of cheese.
prepare to wait
by mefmef at Citysearch
I know they can be really slow sometimes, so I called ahead yesterday to be sure I could get in and out in my lunch break. When I went it to pick it up, my food wasn't ready, and the girl behind the counter argued with me, and two people who hadn't called ahead were served before I was.
The food is alright, but don't bother going here unless you have at least an hour to spare.
Calzones all the way
by KalebMichaels at Citysearch
They have the best calzones ever. I love the green pepper, sausage and onion. Its my favorite kind. During lunch this place is located right downtown and it is always packed. So if you want your food within your lunch hour I would suggest order ahead, while it is worth the wait you don't want to chance being late.
- Pros: Good quality food,
- Cons: pricey

Davanni's has the best and most original deep dish pizza I have ever experienced. Go get one as soon as you can. I know they use a closely guarded recipe for their sauce.... they have reason to guard it!
