44.967386 -93.278031The Owner Is Saucy, To Be Sure. The owner of General J's, who is the only person I've ever seen working there, seems to be a Cold War era Russkie and he acts like it. He's surly, he's difficult, he's a curmudgeon. But, like anyone in the sort of business he's in, he appreciates a good haggle. I've gotten good deals there and had nothing but positive experiences. He's totally an alpha male; you go in there with a chip on your shoulder or accuse him of ripping you off, of course he's gonna fight you. Like most situations, if you keep the aphorism "You'll catch more bees with honey than vinegar", you'll fare well at J's.
Rude and expensive, also full of junk. When I first walked in the guy working there (I assume the owner) was arguing with his lawyer loudly about trying to take someone to court , the lawyer was saying he didnt have a case, I had been waiting to ask the price on some ammo bags(nothing marked) , after the lawyer left the guy told me 39 dollars a piece (they sell for 9.99 on the internet where I bought them eventually) after I said that was too expensive he berated me and told me to get the hell out and we got into a name calling exchange. Also there were plenty of cheap chinese items that do not qualify as military or surplus and were very very expensive for what they were.
Better bring a LOT of money!.
