Terrible customer service from owner!!. We contacted O'Donovan's a month in advance to cater a large work event and were told to talk to the owner, Dermot Cowley. Dermot was great....at first. He provided suggestions to appeal to a large crowd and even offered to provide the lunch at a discount since we were on a budget! Fabulous, right? He soon turned unresponsive when trying to finalize the food and finance just before the event. He would not answer his cell phone, return our phone messages, and did not send follow-up emails when he said he would. The whole ordeal was extremely unprofessional. Dermot should have been straightforward that he was not interested or unable to do it! The committee ended up having to scramble to find other arrangements a week before the event. Horrible customer service and from the owner no less!…
Right across from Target Center and First Avenue nightclub is a friendly bit of Gaelic charm..
In Short
When owner (and native Irishman) Dermot Cowley took over this pub and restaurant, its warm atmosphere and live music quickly made it one of downtown's friendliest destinations. The
menu is pretty Irish, too: boxty (an Irish potato pancake), fish-and-chips and beef stew made with Murphy's Irish Stout. The outdoor tables fill up fast on summer evenings, when young and gregarious clientele watch people walking from the Target Center parking ramps to various downtown events.…
Best bartenders, fantastic food. My old man and I have been frequenting OD's for quite some time and we have never met a friendlier bunch of people. Best atmosphere, proper pints, and wonderful food. Most suprising, they put up with the likes of us!…
Feels like a cleaner Dublin. I recently moved to MSP and this has been my favorite bar so far. It's got a great Irish feel but doesn't feel as dirty as if it were in Dublin. Good place to go for great bar food and a propa pint.
Excellent beer selection, good karaoke. I've had a hard time finding better Sunday night karaoke than O'Donnovan's. And nothing goes with karaoke like a few drinks! Fortunately, O'Donnovan's carries a fantastic selection of Irish beers, whiskeys, and liquours for the distinguished drinker. Prices are a tad expensive, but that is to be expected with imported beverages. The pub layout provides ample opportunities to mingle, meet new people, and get away from the loud music occassionally. O'Donnovan's attracts a mixed crowd and is high in traffic, but comfortable seating is always available in this fun atmosphere.…
