Brit's has the potential to be fun....great atmosphere, superb location, beautiful summertime patio....and yet these assets are overshadowed by the most hideously sub-standard staff in the metro area. Perhaps this establishment is petitioning for the title of: "Worst Servers and Management in America!" If so, then congratulations, you're well on your way. Slow, lazy, rude, unapologetic for mistakes....these are some of the examples of the so-called "service" I have experienced when patronizing Brit's. The food is sub-par at best, and a word to the wise: don't go if you are excessively hungry or thirsty. It is possible that they place every food and drink order IN BRITAIN, given the amount of time it takes to receive your order. As a former frequent Brit's guest, I often forgave the atrocious service by way of a lovely summer evening on the patio, but really, enough is enough. No more rewarding bad business with my business.
good for friends to go and relax and have a good time. i actually went solo and there was a lot of people there having a good time with their friends or family. i ordered the four cheese penne with breadcrumbs and pancetta - it was very rich and very delicious for pasta and cheese lovers. service was friendly but i did notice my waitress having to juggle a lot of tables. I didnt go outside to the lawn bowling but i saw it through the window and it looks like everyone was having a nice time. inside decor is cool.
Great social bar downtown, busy on the weekends. This place has many positive aspects - great place for after work happy hour, gathering for drinks in the evening, roof top bar with lawn bowling, very 'social'. Also very busy most of the time! Food is ok, it's british style shepherds pie, the scotch eggs are a tasty but unhealthy appetizer. Go here for drinks and then walk somewhere else for dinner. This is a great place to take an out of towner as it has atmosphere and lots of people.
Great Beers, Great location, Good food!. A perfect spot to sit down and enjoy a few cold english beers from tap. Sit on the patio and order up an order of Scotch Eggs. They are good!!!!
Best Roof Top Bar. Must say after all these years Brits roof top is still by far one of the best spots on a summer afternoon. The new addition overlooking the lawn bowling was great for our group of 20 people. Service, sunshine and smiles made it all spectacular.
Used to be my favorite spot, but their service ruined it. We used to love Brit's. Working near by, it was a fun and convenient place to meet after work or rent space for work-related functions. Unfortunately their service or lack there of has ruined this place. Tact and customer service are sorely missing but that's OK, The Local, across the street has both in spades. Go there instead for a much more enjoyable evening.
A wonderful night...not such wonderful service. Over two years ago eight guys went out for a bachelor party. After eating a nice dinner, we headed to Brit's. We had only had a few bottles of wine with a big dinner but Brit's declined to serve us. We talked with the manager and they were unable to say why. Frankly, he was not very nice. They knew we were a bachelor party and did not want our patronage. I know that some people are reading this thinking we were unruly, but we really were not. I had been to Brit's before but I will never go back. I have not gone back and the other guys I was with have not either. They put a damper on a special occasion. Lucky for us there are many fine pubs in Minneapolis. The rest of the night went on without incident. Brit's is authentically pompous. I guess my Irish heritage should have lead me elsewhere to begin.
Summertime favorite. This place is exceptional in the summer time - try lawnbowling (or just watch) on the roof. Also - very reliably good happy hour crowd and great drink selection.
Avoid Friday night isyou're not into the nicollet "scene". If you're a bit of a beer snob, this might be a good place to start the night. Come early for fish and chips and a pint of old speckled hen and leave before the the shee shee bar crowd gets in. If it's a summer night, go early for HH drinks and get a spot on the roof patio next to the garden.
Great place when staying downtown. I was in Minneaoplis during the summer 2006 for a conference. We didn't know where to eat, so we tried Brit's. I got the Tandoori chicken (a version of it). It was delicious. The drinks were somewhat expensive, but not compared to NY or Boston prices. Several other people ate (and drank) there as well for the week we were there, and I heard no complaints, other than the drinks were expensive. Check it out!
