Avoid Monday Nights. Food is always good. Service depends on the night. Avoid Mondays. Need to recruit staff who understand and know how to relate to neighborhood regulars.
Just love this place! Great food! great service!. This place is awesome and a must go to in my opinion. These type of places are hard to find - nice, quaint pub with great food and great service. I had a pizza to die for. It's cozy, fun place to catch up with someone over drinks and apps. I have never been dissapointed going here - be sure to check it out! enjoy!
Love Eli's!!. This is hands down one of my favorite bars in the Minneapolis area. The servers are friendly and quick and it is definitley one of those places "where everyone knows your name." The food is tasty and the ambiance is cozy. One reviewer mentioned that it can be either completely dead or hopping busy and that is true. Lately, I have noticed more and more nights where it is swamped. Good thing cuz I want to keep this place around.
Go Here!. A friend and I tried Eli's on the recommendation of a co-worker. Boy, we were pleasantly surprised. He desribed it as a 'local watering hole.' We thought - in Downtown Mpls - no way. We were wrong. Not only was one of the co-owners (at least that's my understanding as to what he was) helpful and courteous, but the rest of the service was top notch! The food, not that we could pick one thing to have, was exceptional at a very reasonable price. Don't rag on me - I don't care much for most downtown prices and locations - but this is one of the best out there. HIGHLY recommended!
Surprisingly good gourmet grub melds seamlessly with jazzed-up bar food at this cozy neighborhood fave..
In Short
A ketchup-hued bar area and mustard-colored walls are the perfect backdrop for this neighborhood joint--popular for its three varieties of toppings-heavy hot dogs. But it's not just the bar food that draws the young downtown condo dwellers. Menu items like filet mignon with truffled mushroom ragout are the norm on the upscale menu. Soft jazz, easy conversation and a well-rounded wine and martini list make this welcoming hangout a more-than-once-a-week routine for its loyal, local fans.
Extraordinary! Yes, people, it is a BAR.... This place has exceptional food at a very reasonable price and the fact that they serve VERY late is a huge bonus. It also has great ambiance but it is a bar so if you need to feel like you're eating in a swanky, ultra-pristine place the Chambers Kitchen is right down the street. Meet me after and we'll compare checks...
Great Food at Excellent Prices. With weekly specials and the regular menu they have just about anything for anyone. The filet on the menu with a truffled mushroom ragout and horsradish mashed potatoes is only $22, better than any 8oz filet I have at any of the three M's. The bartenders have a strong pour too!
Pleasant surprise!. Looking for good food at a decent price in a relaxed atmosphere, Eli's is the place to go to (or one of them.) I read the reviews on citysearch and do not agree with the negative ones IN THE SLIGHTEST. While the ambiance is typical of an older, dark bar, the food is quite fantastic actually. Weekly specials on the wall all tend to be excellent. The hot dogs are always a good choice, the lobster chowder is wonderful, the turkey and asparagus sandwhich healthy and tasty, and the ravioli (squash, walnuts, gorgonzola) is an endulgement worth the calories. The service is just fine here. My experience have been positive. They get you what you want in a timely fashion. If you're looking for white table linens, beverages in crystal, servers with serving assistants, this is not the place for you.
Slow as molasses.
I've only been there for lunch and the chicken/asparagus sandwich is quite nice really. My co-workers love the dogs, so I tried them and they were pretty so-so. The bun was dry, the toppings minimal, and it wasn't all it was cracked up to be.
Mainly, the service is unattentive and both the waitstaff and kitchen are impossibly slow. Last time we were there, it took 50 minutes to get our food. You might think it was because the place was packed, but that was not the case. We were 5 of around 12 people in the whole joint. The steak fries, which are usually a high point, were greasy soppy messes and the rationale was that their "fryer is too small to make that many at one time." Uh, get a bigger fryer or take them off the menu if you can't accommodate three orders at a time.
cool place to hang. we wandered in after having had a couple drinks elsewhere, and i wish we woulda started out here! The menu was to die for (but we had already eaten) and they really know how to mix a drink here: whew! There is also an incredible wine by the glass list and at very reasonable rates. Great place to just sit back and relax!
