tasty.
My husband and I took two of our boys here for dinner about 2 weeks ago to give them a taste of downtown eating and atmosphere.
We weren't disappointed! The restaurant wasn't busy, it was a Sunday evening, so we were able to sit on the rooftop and enjoy the view.
We ordered the Blue Cheese nachos and fries for appetizers. The nachos were amazing the fries were average.
We all ordered burgers and absolutely enjoyed every bite.
We did feel it was a little on the pricey side. Our bill was almost $100 and there were no alcoholic beverages but it is downtown Minneapolis.
We also decided that having tattoos must be a prerequisite for employment.
Worst Restaurant Experience.
I went to Joe's Garage with a couple of my friends for dinner on a Saturday night. The host said it would be about a 20 minute wait for the patio upstairs- which was expected as it was Saturday night. We were sat in 10 minutes, which was great, but unfortunately the only great thing about our experience.
We sat for 10 minutes without our server even acknowledging us. Then it took another 10 minutes for him to bring us our drinks- a simple Diet Coke and Iced Tea, at which point he said he would be "right back" to take our order. 10 minutes later. He took our order.
Our food was brought out by another person, who was prompt and brought us what we needed. Our server did not check on us once while we were eating. Meanwhile, we saw our server taking shots with the table next to us. We overheard him talking to someone about how drunk he was. Our drinks were empty halfway through our meal, and never refilled. We sat for another 15 minutes waiting for him to bring us our check.
Both of my friends enjoyed their meal, I did not. I ordered the chicken finger basket and I couldn't tell if it was chicken or fish. There was so little meat and it tasted as if it had been sitting under a hot lamp for 20 minutes. The potato strings I got were but an inch in length and burnt. I've never had potato strings before- maybe that's how they're supposed to be?
Overall, an awful dining experience.
Fun & Great food.
They've got one of the best spicy bloody mary's that I've had.
The Happy Hour deals are great
The service is prompt and friendly.
There's not enough parking, but of course that's Minneapolis.
Right next to Loring Park.
ehhhh...... The food was pretty good but I have had better. The seating area is somewhat good if you can't get the patio of course. I wanted a nice night out to relax but here it seems like your just straight rushed. You can't even sit down before they are asking for your order then they want you to get everything at once. The food and patio sort of make up for this but I don't know.... Mike doesn't really care for the place so I doubt we will be back soon.
Hmmmm?.
For Father's Day we decided, hey let's go to Joe's G, we were seated right away and then we met Miss
Crabby upstairs on the patio. She pointed at our sunny table while there were 10 in the shaded area. She couldn't use her words. 20 minutes went by as did our impersonable server. She seemed reluctant to recognize us... Too bad, the food was delicious....We mentioned this to the Mgr and he was lovely. We haven't yet decided if we will return, the view the great.
Terrible service by manager. The manager asked us to leave so he could turn over the table after we had several appetizers, dinner and drinks. We were there for 2.25 hours with a group of friends for a special night. Needless to say, we will not be returning. We are encouraging our friends to avoid this restaurant as well. Very disappointed.
Don't bother. The food was bland, the environment dirty especially the bathrooms-ICK and the owner/snob JOE was just as rude as can be. It's amazing this place is still around with an attitude like that running the place. I won't be back. Better service at pizza hut
Nice outdoor dining, food just OK.
We went on a Saturday evening and thankfully had made a reservation, so were seated promptly. However, a friend of mine happened to be there who had not and waited for an hour to be seated. So, definitely make reservations.
I enjoyed the seating we had a view of both the Bascilica and Loring Park. the drinks were good as well. We had an appetizer of grilled shrimp which was also well prepared. However, neither my husband nor i enjoyed our dinners. I had the lamb meatballs and my husband had the walleye. Mine was dry and he said his lacked flavour, even though his came with chipotle sauce.
The service was fine, the wait staff was friendly and attentive. The restrooms definitely need to be improved, it was worse than what i would expect in a truck stop.
excellent location across loring park.
the location is excellent, after a nice filling meal one can walk around the quaint loring park on a nice afternoon and take a nap on the lush greens, exactly what we did! :) the church bells in the background and the gorgeous view from their patio seating just did it for us.
the menu is eclectic with a good variety for vegetarians. we had the thai red curry risoto, which was so yummy! the falafel wrap was ok, i have had much better elsewhere. definitely want to go back and try the appetizers and the rooftop.
Casual American fare, sure to please. I've never eaten anything at Joe's that I didn't like. My faves: french fries served with basil aioli; cream cheese egg rolls; teryaki chicken wings; mashed potatoes with brocolli, mock duck and spicy curry red pepper sauce; all the burgers; spicy red curry risotto. Daily soups are also often good. Service is sometimes a little too casual (spacey servers), but the bartenders are always awesome. Good happy hour deals on wine & apps. Roof top patio is one of the best places for summer evening drinks, and they recently added a late-night happy hour up there too!
