Great local hang out, Gay but Straight Friendly.
Very nice friendly crowd. Still 75 cent pool after many years. Some Bartenders need to loose their "tude" and just do their job....and more quickly...better tips come with better and faster service. NOT better tips get better service. We are the customers who collectively pay their rent and that should be remembered. Staff seems overwhelmed when it is busy....takes forever to get a drink....Bartenders are falling over each other at ONE long line for drinks. If you have two bartenders why not have two drink lines on opposite sides of the bar????
Also big lack of Security.....too many occasions of coats, bags, pool sticks, etc. being stolen...How about a coat check and/or a door person on busy nights???
Excellent Hang Out. The 19 bar is a great place to have a pitcher of beer and just hang out with friends. No drama, no creepy people, just a fun place to drink, socialize and play darts or pool. The place does get a little crowded on the weekends but usually starts to clear out by 11pm-midnight. I highly recommend checking it out!
a damn good gay bar!. i love the 19. it's a great place to meet after work and drink beer. there are often ladies there, always more men but i still feel comfortable. the only bad thing i have experienced is that we always seem to get served slower than the men. that's messed up. but also why i will be going to PI for happy hour now. however, when in the area, the 19 is the best!
Great Tasting Pizza ..... Kettle River Pizza now served. Give the place a try I think you will like it. I found it to be great place to have a pitcher of Beer and shoot a game of Billards.
The oldest gay bar in the city is still the Cheers of the Minneapolis gay scene..
In Short
The place, in the heart of the gay district of Loring Park, once was known as a pick-up bar for young hustlers and their fans. Today, young professionals and cute college boys and girls enjoy the bar's quaint charm, friendly atmosphere and strong beer. The 19 also serves lower-alcohol wine coolers, root beer and hard liquor. The place is also known for its tournament-class pool tables, electronic dartboards and a diverse jukebox.
The Bartenders are TERRIBLE.. I have visited the 19 Bar on several occassions and generally find it a nice neighborhood bar but some of the help leaves much to be desired. There are a couple of bartenders that would rather sit and talk amongst themselves then actually wait on the customers. I waited for 10 minutes (no exageration) while the bartender sat and chatted with his "friends" at the end of the bar. Finally when he did come to get me a beer, I didn't tip him (because the service sucked) and he slammed my bottle of beer on the bar causing it to foam over the top and then he said, "whoops" with attitude and went back to chatting with his friends. Good service deserves a tip... poor service deserves nothing.
Best place in town. Great place to meet people or just to relax, great atmosphere and the new expanded outdoor patio with roof rocks.
Yes, no longer 3.2!!. They finally have a liquor license! This place is a great glbt bar if you just want a no attitude friendly bar. The pool players are pretty serious players here. Many types of, mostly guys, come here. It's the perfect place for a pitcher of bear after work.
Great Place!. This place is great ... always a friendly face ... a friendly bartender ... and lots and lots of friendly beers :)
The Teener McWiener!. What's better than a pitcher or five on a Saturday night, throwing some darts, listening to the best jukebox in Minneapolis? Not much!!
