An all-organic breakfast and lunch joint that specializes in delicious vegan fare, the Seward Café is the place to go for healthy breakfast food and a progressive, comunity vibe. Huevos Rancheros, pancakes, homemade granola, free-range eggs and more can all come with organic fruit and dairy or soy milk or bright green veggies. Booths and tables are nearly always filled in the mornings, and an upright piano in the center room tempts visitors to show off their talent. Order at the counter, grab a seat and wait for the cook to bark your name. Sit back and enjoy the conversation.

Seward Cafe promotes sustainable living!. I love Seward Cafe! Just wanted to note that weekday hours are actually 7am-3pm, not 6:30-2. Also, all checks (not just local ones) are accepted with a valid ID. Check it out!!

Best Healthy Breakfast Around!!. My one year old and I go to the Seward Cafe on Saturday mornings for a weekly date. He loves the black beans and pancakes, and I love the Huevos Rancheros. If you think it's too much work/ too long a wait for the fabulous food, remember that there's a McDonalds right down the road.

The atmosphere is fabulous. There's kids running around, cooks yelling your name to come get your food. You don't need people waiting on you hand and foot to have a great dining experience. YUM!!!

Don?t be intimidated by the bikesters and socialists.... Don?t be intimidated by the bikesters and socialists ? if you crave whole grains jump in your SUV and head down to this eclectic little breakfast joint on Franklin Avenue. If you?re not familiar with whole foods, your digestive track might be in for a little shock, but keep going back and you will hard to find it ever to visit Maccas again. Absolutely unique alternative atmosphere I haven?t found since visiting my brother last in the hippy dominated hinterland of Byron Bay in Australia. Don?t forget to order a side of kale!

SEWAR D. okay i understand the whole bohemian thing but come on, let it go already! I ate here like 25 yrs ago and the scary thing is that not much has changed.

The food is overpriced for all you have to go through to get it. Like a previous reviewer said, write your own ticket, pick up your own food and drink, hunt high and low for a salt or pepper shaker, and be subjected to children running like feral animals thoughout the restaurant! (we don't want to inhibit the creativity of little Zen Or Moonbeam now do we?) I won't even go into how dirty the place is and why in the devil the Mpls Health Dept. has not shut it down.

Oh and lets not forget the outdoor dining! Ok in Mn. we love to eat outdoors, restaurants set up dining outdoors next to streets, dumpsters, and the like, just let it be a table outside! Well the outdoor dining at Seward is like an internment camp with the prisoner's having their last meal before the train pulls up. Its a private space, a large space, why not plant a flower or two? Maybe a little color on the fence? I suppose that would be conformity. I would think that having a beautiful garden setting would be "GREEN" and environmentally friendly. I suppose it won't change though, I mean it hasn't in 25 yrs. Which is too bad, the food was all right but the pain on the road to getting it makes it not worth the trouble. Apparently their are enough customers who don't mind shelling out good $$ to "work" in a restaurant. Since I already work in a "real" food establishment I won't be returning. However I BEG you; please do something with your outdoor dining, it is just so sad and depressing, there are enough problems in the world without having to subject yourself to that!

Expensive for DIY services. Food Awesome!!,

INCREDIBLY EXPENSIVE seeing as you as the customer have to write the order ticket for the guy behind the counter, clean a table, get yelled at when you don't pick up your order when your name is quietly yelled in the other room, provide yourself with tea, notify staff they are out of tea, get a very stern look when you have the sugar dispenser cause apparently there is only one in the whole place, and bus your own table. The topper of the whole morning was seeing a tip jar at the front of the counter you have got to be kidding me A TIP FOR WHAT!!!!!. Gave the money I would have left for a tip to the bum outside cause at least he was singing showtunes.

Vegans rejoice!. If you're vegetarian/vegan and live in Mpls, you should already know about the Seward. The food is always excellent, people interesting and it's a wonderful spot to nurse a hangover on sunday mornings.

TC's Best Kept Organic Secret!. This unassuming little cafe offers the best, bar none, organic breakfast (and lunch on the rare occasions I am able) in the Twin Cities. I have been going here and introducing new people to this gem for many years and will always bring friends here from out of town. Can get crowded on weekends so best bet is going before noon. Catch the 2-fer-Tuesdays on the Vanilla Cream CP! Just watch out for the overzealous bees that will buzz you for your sweets when you sti outside during the summer and the hungry homeless coming in just before close.
