In Short
This sparse and casual space has a few tables and a small performing area at one end of the room. Long a cool spot for people-watching; always a popular destination when the dew point climbs high. Both new spins and old favorites are on the ice cream list of more than 80 flavors. Traditionalists love the heady vanilla, which uses ground beans instead of extract. The daring try ginger-cream or spicy cayenne-laced chocolate coyote.

I love this ice cream shop! It has a very quaint, old town feel in the middle of a big city. They have this pretty indoor seating area with a fireplace and also an outdoor seating area with twinkly lights. The only complaint I have is they should shove ice cream into the bottom of the cone. Otherwise you eat the ice cream and all you are left with is the cone. Give me a reason to eat the cone! It would be nice if they put an M&M in the bottom so ice cream won't drip out. (Hint, hint).

I brought my family here after a nice Sushi dinner. Looking for a good ice cream desert. NOT! The children, 12 year olds, were disappointed when they received their Dixi cup sized single scoop for $3.05. I had a single scoop of chocolate with syrup, whipped cream, and nuts for $6 plus. This they call a Sundae? Guess they have never visited Baskin Robins! I've had better from Cub. Next time we'll go to IZZY'S.

The Details on Sebastian Joe's

Fun Fact:

The Franklin Avenue Sebastian Joe's was one of Minneapolis' very first coffeehouses.

Know Before You Go:

Sebastian Joe's also has another equally worthy location on Upton Avenue in Linden Hills.

The Extras:

Along with 24 unique ice cream flavors, Sebastian Joe's also serves a heaping helping of sorbets, malts, frozen yogurt, float and sundaes. Its rotation of homemade ice-cream flavors has made it an institution, but this place also knows a thing or two about classic spumoni and fruity sorbets.
