Editorial Review for Giorgio's on Hennepin – by Citysearch Staff

In Short
Three rooms offer bar seating, a dining room and a lounge. The northern Italian food is similarly rustic, but more casual. All the entrees are unlisted specials--such as duck, flank steak, trout, chicken and pork--and are finished with wine reductions or other flavorful sauces, enhanced with pungent notes such as lemon and Roquefort and nested on wilted spinach, sautéed peppers or another colorful vegetable. It purveys inexpensive pastas, focaccia pizzas and a garlicky Caesar.

Insider Tips

When to Go

Select bottles are offered at half-price on Tuesday nights. Since the list varies from week to week--sometimes selected or bought specifically for the list--it's a great, inexpensive way to try out interesting European varietals.

Parking

A small lot behind the restaurant offers free parking, otherwise, park it on the street.

I think Giorgio's is the BEST italian in Minneapolis. Very authentic. Every dish I have tried has been excellent. I love their bread and calamari. They used to have a dish made with bucatini that was my favorite and they took it off the menu. I was disappointed because I could not find that kind of dish anywhere else. Bring back the bucatini!!! Bucatini or not, Giorgio's is still my favorite.

Pros: Excellent, authentic italian

I went to dinner at this restaurant with a friend for his college Italian class a couple of years ago. We were there on a weeknight and were pretty much the only people in the restaurant. The menu was certainly a refreshing deviation from the kind of fake-Italian you'd see at your local Olive Garden. Our food was delicious and high quality. I recommend Giorgio's to anyone who wants to try REAL Italian dishes!!

Pros: authentic Italian cuisine, timely service

Cons: restaurant was empty
