don't anything with pork in it....i had
the pork fried rice and i got real sick the next day.....everything else you'll do fine.
even though there is seating i use it only for take out because the dining area is depressing!
Best Chinese Food since ever.... I grew up in Hawaii where chinese food was awesome... I tried other places and fell in love with Bill's chicken Lo Mein.... Yeah the decor is throw back, and you wait for the food, but if you plan it carefully, you can walk in and run out food with food in hand.... Bills garden in definitely a treat for me and my family... We're ordering it TONITE...
Best Quick Chinese in the Cities. Bill's is great. It has been a neighborhood staple for years. We love the fried rice and if you like chow mein, it's great here. This is not your gourmet Asian restaurant; there are plenty of those that are also amazing. This is your hole in the wall, family owned take out like your parents used to bring home when they didn't want to cook. Bill and his family are great. The place seems run down because it has been there so long. DON'T be fooled though...the kitchen is VERY clean and Bill makes sure to keep everything clean. If you plan to eat there, don't do it when you're in a hurry. Most business comes from carry out so table service during busy hours can take a little longer. Call ahead or stop in. Bill has chairs to wait and a paper to read. It's delicious! I highly recommend trying it at least once!
Can't Find Anplace That's Better. I am 32 years old and have been eating at Bill's Garden since I was a student at Roosevelt. My husband and I live in Apple Valley now. We still will travel to Minneapolis when we get the urge to eat chineese. We have eaten at hundreds of places and nothing compared to Bills. We usually order the Chicken Fried Rice, Beef-Lo-Mein, Chow Mein, Beef & Broccoli, Chicken Wings, Egg Rolls, and Cream Cheese Puffs. My husband and I are very pickey eaters. The rice is not filled with peas and carrots. Bill won't skimp on the beef or chicken when you order beef n broccoli ot lo-mein. You get lots of food that tases good and keeps you coming back for more. Bills and his family take pride in theor food. Bill is warm and friendly. He stays in the kitchen cooking so some people may think he is not warm and friendly. Listen, I would rather have him focus on my food than to ask me how my day is going. Call in your order...They will tell you 20 minutes...Be sure to arive there in 20 minutes and your wait will be only about 10 minutes more. I have introduced every friend and co-worker to Bills and they are addicted. They agree that they have never found any chineese better than bills. Parking sucks. you may have to walk 1/2 block to get to Bills, however, it is in a residential neighborhood so you will need to accept that. The building is ugly and the dining area has that 1970's look to it. We take orders to go. Chineese is better curled up infront of the TV on a movie night, I think....It's important to note that this place is ugly but clean. Bill and his family keep a clean kitchen and clean dining area. That means a lot to us. Trust me try this place....Everything on the menu is great...expecially for you picky eaters.
best chinese food in minneapolis!!!. Bills is our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Minneapolis - their sesame chicken is always so crispy and golden brown - they pack the sauce separately so the chicken doesn't turn to mush. deff plan to take out, the dining area isn't much to look at. our only complaint is that you can easily wait an hour for the food, even when they say 25 mins and yet..it's so good...we find ourselves going back for more every time!
Every little bite is incredible. For those that don't like Bill's Garden its because they are used chain restaurant Chinese food. The people working in the kitchen are not Bill's is awesome. While yes, if they tell you it will take 20 minutes, it really takes 40-50 minutes, but totally worth it. Every little bite is incredible. As a New Yorker, I judge Chinese food very critically. In my book, Bill's Garden wins.
Order with caution: All hopes of decent dining evaporate at Bill's threshold..
Do not eat here!!!!!!!!! First, we ordered small portions but were charged for (and given) large. This would have been fine except that we realized we didn't even want to eat it for one dinner much less 3. Also, when we got home we discovered we did not get what we ordered. In addition, they told us the food would be ready in 20 minutes and we finally got it an hour later.
The General Tso's tastes like frozen, fried chicken pieces drizzled with sauce from a jar. And, the wontons (although themselves fine) do not come with sauce. Everything else was flavorless but edible I guess, just not what we ordered.
The atmosphere is strange; the place is nearly deserted. It is unfortunate that this place is abusing its location in an area with few dining choices.
P.S. No fortune cookies.
The best take out chinese on the earth!. You may not be too impressed with the decor... but Bill's makes, without a doubt the very best fried rice on the planet. I am very choosey when it comes to fried rice, and any time I try someone else's, I can't help but compare it to Bill's. No one can touch it! Go for the rice, stay for the chicken wings, sweet and sour chicken, and garlic chicken. MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM Good!
