Great Coffee Shop. May Day is a great coffee shop! A comfortable little place that always seems bustling. Great pastries and coffee. They also have a selection of food, often large slices of pizza or deep slices of quiche, and burritos + more. I love going there to do homework as a treat, since I don't live nearby. The only drawback is it closes at 6. I've always had a good experience here.

This hidden gem in Powderhorn Park exemplifies what this south-side neighborhood is all about: art, open arms and quirky small-town charm. In fact, this coffee joint/bakery/art gallery has grown into such a spectacular place to get everything from fresh-baked treats to a slice of quiche even "real men" can't pass up, we almost hate to reveal the secret. Aside from serving some of the best fair-trade coffee in town, May Day offers fresh-baked muffins (blueberry and cherry-pecan among the favorites), vegan scones and decadent date bars daily. And the veggie-sausage breakfast sandwiches, dressed up in homemade sourdough, are reason enough to stop in to this little 20-seat eatery.
