Best kept secret in Powderhorn. This is some of the best old-school Pizza in town. Thin-crust, cut in squares, delicious-on-a-plate.

I really wish the atmosphere had a little more of that dark-hole-in-the-wall quality like Dulano's Pizza (my other fave)

The patio in the summer makes it all right!! Couldn't believe how quaint it felt on a June night. I felt like I was in Chicago, not "on" Chicago.

This famous Southside pizza and pasta joint is a favorite among neighborhood residents, pizza lovers, sauce-smeared kids, cops on the beat and more. Jakeeno’s is old-school in all the best ways: The baked rigatoni comes bubbly and chessy; and the pizza comes thin and crispy. Recently the Powderhorn Park neighborhood landmark got a new-school makeover: The classic red-and-white tablecloths have been replaced with wood-topped tables and wood-backed chairs; and the white walls have been recast with Martha Stewart-approved shades of olive green and tangerine. It’s an upgrade that’s warm and inviting. But the pizza and pasta will always be the same gut-filling delicacies that have made Jakeeono’s so beloved.

Awesome. The bbq chicken pizza is the best since Edwardo's.

Stuffed shells with nutmeg...matchless.

If it's early enough in the evening, you can't go wrong with this place.

A dozen tables, all with red-and-white checkered tablecloths (and quintessential retro red-glass candleholders), fill this small eatery. The highly visible pizza makers are good entertainment for the little ones as neighborhood folk take your order. Thin-crust pizza is the thing here and pies can have any of the two-dozen toppings--even sauerkraut. The Chicago Super is your classic everything, with tons of toppings piled high but made manageable by a web of cheese. A little twist on tradition is the rosemary potato pizza.

Amazing food, excellent service. Forget the spendy and trndy Italian spots and try this family-run, neighborhood spot. The pizza is incredible and the pastas are all good. Homemade desserts too.
