Great cut and color

I wanted a new look, and was hesitant to get a cut, because the last cut I had was soooooo horrible. I stumbled upon East 42nd Street Salon after googling curly hair salons in Minneapolis, and decided to book an appointment.
The stylist I had was Teresa. I explained that I wanted something different, but was a little nervous as the last cut I had was so bad. After a thorough consultation she calmed my nerves and proceeded to cut and color my hair. Teresa was quiet through the whole process, but I actually enjoyed not having a lot of chit chat. When I was done I loved my look!!!, and I pre booked my next appt which I have never done. I highly recommend Teresa she was informative, professional, and not a lot of chit chat.

I've been looking for a new curly hair stylist for awhile now for my naturally curly hair since Accolades salon kept screwing up my appointments, and I heard that East 42nd had a lot of stylists with curly hair experience. I booked an appointment with Teresa. I showed her pictures of the exact color i wanted the hi-lights & low-lights & a picture of the length of the cut & style of layers (right below the shoulders at the collar bone, which I even pointed to on my body). She wasn't rude or anything, just not personable/friendly or talkative, no chit chat or small talk...kind of felt uncomfortable, until her assistant (sorry, can't remember her name) came to help. They discussed the color, Teresa did the cut (silently), and then her assistant basically did 90% of the color, while Teresa disappeared. The assistant was plenty talkative & friendly. While I was sitting in the chair processing, Teresa had double booked her time with me, and asked me to move out of her chair so her next client could sit there to get a cut. Ummm....ok, kinda rude, but whatever. After the alarm went off that the processing time was up, the ASSISTANT checked my color, shampooed me, and explained the prodcuts. Only then did Teresa show back up to help with the blow dry & style. So, basically I spent over $250 to have 90% of my appointment with her assistant & for a bottle of shampoo & conditioner. To top it off, the hi-lights & low-lights were not at all the color I asked for (they were okay looking, not hideous, but not at all the color I showed her in the picture, which I unfortunately couldn't really see until it was daylight out the next day since it was dark in the salon at night) & the cut was about 2 inches shorter than I requested. It was just an okay cut...okay layers, but unfortunately it was cut blunt, straight across the back, which I specifically said I did NOT want a block cheese-wedge cut!!!! I've had better cuts at Sam's club, which is sad considering the level of expertise I was expecting. I liked the Diva products a lot, and the assistant was very nice, so I will try going back again, just to a different stylist. I definately did NOT get my moneys worth, wish I could get the tip back
Wow!!! Made a bad cut from another salon a knockout!

I called the salon on Monday after a VERY unbecoming cut on Saturday. I have curly hair, but had been with the other stylist for about a year and the cuts were OK. Last Saturday, I showed her a photo of what I wanted and cringed as she took thinning shears to my hair. Well, I left that salon on Saturday looking like Bozo. After speaking with the really helpful receptionist, I scheduled a cut with Teresa. It is a difficult thing to take a really bad cut and make it so cute that within an hour of getting to work all of the referral cards I was given were gone!!! Everyone commented on my hair -- I feel younger and chicer than I have in years! Thank you Teresa! I have NEVER had this kind of positive response to a haircut before. I'll be back. And, I'll be bringing my Mom! Teresa listened to me -- told me things about my hair, walked e through the Curly Girl routine (which I thought I had down) and gave really helpful hints on how to keep it from frizzing. Didn't push products (I already use Deva Curl), but made two excellent recommendations. If you have curly hair -- this is the place for you!
Sam is Super Sassy!!!

Sam is the best stylist I have ever had! I completely trust her. My sister has extremely curly hair and Sam recommended the Salon before she even worked there. My sister had her hair done and I can honestly say it was the best money my sister EVER spent. She gets complements on her hair EVERYDAY! Not only did the staff give her a phenomenal haircut, but they also taught my sister how to care for her hair. It has really changed her life for the better.
I do not have the amazing curly hair that my sister does. But both my husband and I see Sam! She is amazing. She gives you the "best haircuts, EVER," according to my husband. And, he does have curly hair. But she also has a way of giving you advice that you can trust and implement! I am so happy I found her!
- Pros: Relaxed, professional and worth every penny.

My stylist Cheri creates a great cut and color. For years I went to others never finding the right fit. With Cheri I have.I trust her vision in the style she creates for me and the color she invents. My hair looks great,is easy to care for and when family pulls out old pictures I know why I continue to thank Cheri for my look.Thank you.
