Great customer service! I had some repair work done at another shop, and Car X were kind enough to call that shop so that they would cover the costs of the repairs since the original shop did not properly install the timing belt. I couldn't be happier with the quality of work and service I have received at Car X. Thanks guys!

I took my car in to the Uptown Car-X to
get my rearview mirror glued back on the windshield. When I left, they had only glued the base and told me to pop the mirror on in 24 hours. I waited 2 days and when I went to pop the mirror back on, I noticed a crack in the windshield underneath the glue mark. Seems like someone cracked the windshield when repairing it, right? When I went to report what I found, they told me they denied cracking it, even though I had not at all touched the windshield since taking it to Car-X. When I asked for the supervisor's number, I was given it and told that he was away and there was no one else to call. Upon calling the office and getting an assistant on the phone, I discovered he was indeed there, and therefore ignoring my phone calls.
I understand that the cracked windshield was an accident but a good car repair shop will take responsibility for their mistakes. Not only was I blamed for cracking my windshield but I was then ignored first by the manager and then by his supervisor. Not cool.
Shameful Business Practices!. I took my car into the Car-X in Uptown a handful of times in the past 2 months, and each time I left with more issues than I went in for. After having them replace a wheel bearing two weeks ago, I was hearing noises in that same wheel just a week later. So I took it back in to Car-X to have them look at it. Suddenly, they said I needed things in my transmission fixed. They quoted me $860 to fix it and told me the car was undrivable. When I took my car to another shop for a second opinion, they told me that the noises I was hearing were due to loose lug nuts on the tire that Car X had fixed the wheel bearing with. NOTHING was wrong with my transmission. Not only had Car-X not done the job properly or safely the first time, they tried to take advantage of me when I went back with the issue. The manager, Ben, is one shady dude. Shame on them for trying to take advantage of a female!!

I had to have my car towed, and they were a great help in finding the parts on short notice. They explained what I needed, and gave me some choices about what I needed.
When my girlfriend picked up the car, they were very polite, which is important to me. This first experience in the 90's made me a customer and I keep going back. The parts have held up, the prices are competitive ( I ck around), and the warranty is good at any shop in the chain ( I know - I travel and have had warranty work done at other shops. You can't get that at an independant shop )
dont ever go here. They sold me the wrong battery for my car, which in turn blew a fuse and wouldn't start. I had to tow the car in to the tune of $65, and have them charge me $90 to figure out that the wrong battery was put in it. I had brough in my old battery (for a 2001 Kia Sportage) and was given one for a 2005 Kia Spectra. I had to pay the $20 difference for the battery, which is legit, and $10 for the fuse that blew. I also had to pay $102 for the first (wrong) battery. The guy behind the counter, Nick G, Didnt care at all that they were taking money that I felt was totally unjust, and I am now the proud owner of a $300 car battery. Thanks dudes. They are obviously not professionals about how they handle their business and their customers and they obviously don't know which car battery goes where. Never again will I go here. I'm fighting this one to the finish.
AVOID THESE GUYS!. I ended up needed a repair done to my truck very quickly, and this was the only place I could get in to. I should have known better, but did it anyway. Very 'fast talking' , heavy sales. My $300-400 repair quickly turned into "at least $1400" to get it on the road. Ended up getting about $900 done. About a month later, Fixt Rite (my normal mechanics...these guys are great), ended up repairing, no, just re-doing the Car-X 'work'. The Car-X guys did not replace some of the parts they claimed to, left some of the gaskets off, and in one case, intentionally left a bad part in that would require ripping the whole front end apart again. Thankfully, the guys at Fixt Rite were able to get me on the road safely. When I stopped by to ask the CAR-X guys what was up with what my normal mechanic saw, well, lets just say they were less than helpful. We all know these chain places are generally ripoffs, but be especially careful of the Uptown Car-X!

I'm glad I didn't read this review before my car broke down in the Uptown area. I would have missed a great experience. When my car stalled on Lake St in front of the restaurent next door, the Manager, Mike, helped push my car half a block into the CarX parking lot. He quickly figured out what was wrong and had one of the mechanics install a new belt. I was on my way again in less than 30 minutes. I didn't even miss my job interview.
I would highly recommend this Car-X.
Horrible Customer Service. My car took 3 weeks for the repairs and had to be brought to another shop. Was filled with MANY unfilled promisses. Was not given an estimate or an invoice. Very bad customer service! Would not recomend!
