Spend your time and money elsewhere!.
I am a huge boutique shopper and have worked at and managed boutiques in the past, but I have never encountered a boutique in this target market with such POOR customer service skills!
While I understand being busy with smaller staffs, I have NEVER been to a boutique where an employee doesn't at least say "Hi" within the first two minutes I'm there. In this particular instance, it was the owner, and it took about FIFTEEN minutes when there were only two other customers in the store.
Not only that, but in the hour that I was there, her interactions with me were all really insulting. I recently went up a size from small to a smaller medium (4 to 6) and have been feeling self-conscious about this. When she brought some additional items for me to try on, they were all size large. When I asked her if they had mediums or smalls in those items, she told me they ran small, so I'd probably need the large. Not a single one of those items ran small--I ended up needing a size small in the majority of them.
Beyond the terrible customer service, their prices are also jacked up on a number of their items. Brands like Kensie and Nic & Mo can be purchased for less through their website.
Every year or so I tend to forget why I haven't been to this shop in a while...and then I am instantly reminded. I need to remember to save my trip next year.
If a fun, unique, high-end boutique is what you're looking for, I would recommend venturing to Cliche or Covered nearby, Picky Girl in St. Paul, BlueBird to the west, or La Rue Marche across the boarder in Hudson, WI.
Horrible Customer Service!. I went to Uptown to see what this store had to offer and was so very disappointed! I was ignored by the Sales Rep (possibly the owner?) She made no eye contact, no effort to greet me or ask if I needed any help. She was helping two women that were obviously friends of hers and had absolutely no interest in making me feel welcome. When I asked about a price she acted like I was wasting her time, told me the price and that all sales were final. From reading other reviews it looks like I am not the only one that has been treated poorly, I would not recommend this shop to anyone. Think twice before you waste any money in this place.
Fun Place to Shop.
I've been shopping for years - I don't need a sales person hovering over me or entertaining me while I shop. Local Motion is super at just the right balance of being helpful while not crowding the customer. Some people want to be 'waited on', LM is really good at that, too. When I do want an opinion, I appreciate that the owners are HONEST!
Fun clothes - great sales - lovely accessories - shoes that would be hard to find elsewhere!
Poor service. I made a trip to Uptown to see what this store had to offer and was very disappointed. I was totally ignored by the sales representative. There was no greeting or eye contact. There were only two other women in the store at the time. One who was receiving undivided attention. The other who gave me the stink eye as soon as I walked in the door. Both obviously knew the owner. Wouldn't recommend to any of my friends or co-workers. I will not be dropping a dime on this store's merchandise in the future. I don't pay for attitude.
WE LOVE OUR CUSTOMERS!!!!!!!!!. As the proud owner of Local Motion I welcome your opinions- we can't please every customer but after 21 successful years in the boutique business we would have to say we do it well! Unlike the department stores where you couldn't get help if you tried- we bend over backwards to find you the hottest outfit for your lifestyle and occasion. Please come in and check out our latest finds from LA.!!
This one-of-a-kind women's boutique features feminine fashions that embrace trends without becoming slaves to them..
In Short
With dresses that flounce and scarves that flutter, this store caters to fashion plates who would cringe at the thought of a Gap ad. The racks along each wall of this low-attitude, high-style boutique boast a seemingly endless assortment of pretty things for work or play. Behind a ruby-red satin dress, one might find blue and silver beaded pants, which hide a pale-yellow floral skirt and a lacy white top.
Motion Me!. What a happenin' boutique... artsy, original and irresistable clothing. I recently bought a belt from there, made with 100% leather and hand blown glass from Argentina. Where else would you find that unique of an item? All items are quality made, and available for individual fitting as well. It's definitely a little pricey (depending on where you normally shop) but well worth spoiling yourself at least once a season and splurging on something different.
Local Motion Rocks My World. I love shopping at Local Motion! A staple boutique of Minneapolis, I feel good just walking IN. It's a little pricey, but well worth it when you find the thing that's *just right*.
